ryguy1313 Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Just bought a new Curado K (6.2:1) looking to pair it with the perfect rod and need some advice. The setup will mainly be used for cranking and spinnerbaits, however i want a rod that can still cast texas rigs or brush hogs with ease. Any suggestions? I am looking and the GLoomis E6x series as they have some moderate action rods for around $180. (around $200 is my ideal range). Should i be using a more moderate-fast action for this setup? Quote
Turkey sandwich Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Welcome to the forum! The E6x series is a popular line of rods, and most folks here like them. However, you're asking a lot out of one rod. Can you cast all of those things with the rods you've mentioned? Yes. Will that rod allow you to present Texas Rigs, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits equally well? No. There is no perfect "do everything" rod. But if you needed to choose only one rod and need something versatile, I'd advise you to start with a 7' Med Fast or 7' MH Fast. For $200, lots of manufacturers have great rods. Personally, at that price point, I really like the St. Croix Avid X and Fenwick Aetos lines. Quote
LionHeart Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 I'd go with a mod-fast med/heavy rod Quote
SJex Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 The 843C MBR 7' MH/F would be your best bet, great all around rod. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted February 17, 2018 Super User Posted February 17, 2018 Second the welcome. Never handled an E6X rod. I am a fan of the Aetos. Another rod near that price is the Hammer. Want to save some money? Look at a Tatula Regular action....like the 7'2" MHR. 1 Quote
LonnieP Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 I have an Ex6 rod. It’s an okay rod but you can find much better in that price range. You’re mostly paying for the G Loomis name and the warranty. Quote
