Make it a specific dark alley, explain that you won't be wearing pants, and that if they want the price they need to refer to you as "The   Alley Cat" followed with a pronounced purring sound.  From that point on, speak of yourself only as the third person as "The Alley Cat".  Actual conversation about seriously selling stuff aside, you can run with this as far as you want to make things awkward.  Explain that you'll only accept exchange of obscure foreign currency like Icelandic Krona or Chik-fil-et sauce packets.  Require they wear bathing caps.  Refer to them as "The Rooster".  If you're going to make it weird, go hard.

Beautiful....and yet so strangely convincing as though it's not your first time down that alley:D

People have no shame. One of the reasons I like to put "Firm" at the price Im looking for..

Year before last the neighbors lab mix knocked up my choclate lab. Beautiful puppies that the kids fell in love with. We posted them online, I think for 40-50 bucks or so just to recoup a bit of the money in shots/worming/food etc and get serious folks. Said we'd like for them to go to someone with a yard. Wasnt making a dime of the dogs. People sell mutts for several hundred bucks around here.

I had people haggling daily. One guy- Not making this up- offered a "massage" from his wife? I can negotiate a bit, but man; I just dont get how people can go through life with zero shame like that.

Did you ask for pics? I mean, a good massage is about $50.

Depends on what she is massaging could be worth way more than $50...

Joking of course. My neighbors wife is a professional masseuse. She charges way more than $50.

My favorite is stating “no trades” and you get a message asking if you will accept any trades...and then respond you will trade them the item for money....and then be called a *****.

In the past year I have sold all my musky gear, and 6 different rods.  Almost all of it had not been used in more than 2-3 years.  My view is if I am not using it, why keep it around.  I price it low and I have sold items within a week.  Often within 2 days.  I figure it is worth nothing to me sitting in my garage.  I get a little money and someone else gets to enjoy the equipment.

This is also what I do.  I pick my lowest price and put "firm".  then i only get serious buyers.

What I can't stand is posting something for sale and listing a price only to have people message you without asking any details they say "what's the least you will take for it?" - drives me nuts! I would rather get some ridiculous offer than have to answer this question.

Thats right up there with the "well why are u selling it?"...I get why they do it, but its annoying. As long as what Im selling is what Im saying it is, its none of your business.

Number 1 rule of selling used gear: it's not personal, it's business.

Number 2 rule of selling used gear: if you (or a seller) are offended by a "low-ball" offer, then you/they are obviously too attached to the item to sell it.

Just my experience selling gear at gun shows/online. As somebody said earlier, take the Corleone approach, and make the buyer/seller an offer they can't refuse :)

I believe my job gives me a mentality that hates low balls. I'm a lender and investment broker so my entire life revolves around bleeding people of every last spare penny they have. And I take that approach when buying and selling in the used market.

Recently sold a Gshock watch in Craigslist. Watch was in excellent condition and New was 99.00 dollars. I listed the watch at 55.00 stating that the PRICE IS FIRM. I get a text a day later asking if I will take 30 for it. I texted back 30 laughing emoji's and said  "are you kidding with that price? Can't you read? here's your answer"

A couple seconds later I get a text saying "good luck with that ass__ole"

So the next day I sell the watch for the 55.00 price and text the guy a picture of the money and the word GONE! NO LUCK NEEDED!!!!

Ive sold quite abit on Craigslist but the scammers are getting worse and worse. AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON HOW I TREAT THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally found someone that is similar to me. I'm kind of a combination of several from above.

Perhaps its a competitive deal I'm not sure. lol  I'm also not a fan of parting with my stuff in general!

If I think that someone is trying to screw me then forget it. I'll either hang on to it, give it away to a needy person or worst case I'll put it in the trash.

That being said the grandkids are starting to get old enough that I gave them & the son-in-law a bunch of gear late last year. The grandkids are still really young so I didn't give them top notch stuff but good enough that they won't get frustrated. I bought the son-in-law a Pflueger President spinning real for Christmas so that he gets a taste that better gear is worth it & makes fishing more fun.

5 daughters = 4 grandsons and a 5th grandson on the way!    Paybacks are priceless!

I had a guy ask if I could go up on my roof to take a picture of a boat I was selling from the top.

My reply?  "Really?"

Years ago a neighbor had a garage sale...he put a pair of Allen Edmunds shoes out, worn once, for $5.

I was out in my yard doing something or other near the end of the day when I hear the neighbor ramp up...

"Will I take fifty cents?  Fifty ****ing cents?  Are you out of your ***ing mind?  I'll throw them away before I'll sell them to you for fifty cents!"

I look over and see a guy backing away from the neighbor...

"Wait!  On second thought, take the ***ing shoes, and these pants, and that mirror, and all the kids' ****ing toys...but do it and get the **** out of my yard, and never come back!"

At this point, the guy is walking away, fast, head down, hands in pockets, checking over his shoulder every few steps...

I went inside, grabbed a couple beers, walked over and handed on to my neighbor, "Here, sounded like you could use this."

People had been doing the same thing all day, and he just lost it.

Unfortunately for some people it is not how much it cost, but more how much they think they saved.

I had a friend that tried to lowball everything he bought. No matter the price.

If an item was selling for $1.00 he would try to get it for 50 cents. If that same item was selling for $10.00, he would try to buy it for $5.00.

He would be just as happy paying $5.00 for an item as 50 cents. As long as it was less than asking price.

I never understood his reasoning, but that is how he was wired.

what's worth it would be to send them each a link, containing a video of you jumping up and down on them, crushing them and grinding them into dust with your steel toed boots .  hahaha...
