Went to three Wallys in my area in Jarsey. Not a Gammy to be found. DSG wants an arm. Being winter I'll just wait for a sale to stock up on worm hooks. $1/ worm hook, guess I'm getting old.

They may have dropped them. The two stores here have maybe three sizes and no open spaces for more.

I am seeing this in Missouri also, getting a little worried.  Line selection about a quarter of this time last year.

Wal-Mart carries the Jason Christie signature series of EWG worm hook by Eagle Claw. I use them for everything T rigged and pour them on my swinging football heads. They're less that $5 for a 12pk I believe. If you haven't looked at Eagle Claw hooks in the last few years they've made major changes to their hooks and are now right there in the mix with any other premium hook on the market (they do make Trokar afterall).

$3.72 at ours.  I've found these to be very effective also.  I didn't know much about hooks when I first started buying them, but they've performed very well for me.  For applications requiring or justifying a stronger hook (e.g. T-rigged craws or creatures, heavier worms), quite frankly I prefer these over the Gammy hooks OP is talking about.

I agree. I've had too many rolled points and a couple mysteriously snapped hook shanks with what used to be my favorite superline gammys in the past few years. Have yet to have either issue with the EC and I'm spending way less money on hooks.

I got off Gamakatsu hooks several years ago. I have been the using VMC "Ike approved" EWG's, the Berkley Fusion 19 EWG's, and the Eagle Claw's BlueBasser86 mentioned the last few years. All three are as good as anything else on the market and priced right.

The real sleeper of the bunch, and my favorite is the Berkley fusion 19's. They are super strong, super sharp, and come in an ingenious package that doubles as a small hook box that fits in a 3600/3700 tackle box keeping your hooks labeled and from floating around loose.

The Berkley hooks (and hardbaits), don't get near the attention they deserve for whatever reason.

I was out looking for hooks and Tackle went to three different places seen the berkly hooks each time I seen them I just passed them up didn’t even give them a chance, I don’t know why? But you know what I’m going to give them a shot something about berkly that just screams cheapy when I see them? I don’t know why?

Gamakatsu hooks are still readily available on the Wal-Mart website and through their app.  Their website pricing is weird.. sometimes you can randomly find things at clearance prices.  I just stocked up on a bunch of Gamakatsu's Skip Gap hooks for just $2 per 6-pack.  But Gamakatsus have completely disappeared from my local Wal-Mart in favor of Eagle Claw, and even those are only the most basic panfish, walley & catfish styles.  Useless.

I did just start using the Berkley Fusion hooks late last year though.  As ww2farmer said, they're strong and sharp and the packaging is pretty slick.  Here's the removable plastic insert you can put in a 3700 box, with the factory sticker showing what's in it.  No extra labeling needed.

Going to give the Berkley Fusions a bit more of a try this spring if the ice ever decides to melt.

Glad To report That Mississippi is a leader in this area.  My Walmart has Gammy, Mustad, Diachi, and Tru turn , as well as Eagle Claw.  Seems like maybe Berkley, too.

Eagle Claw has really stepped up their game in the past few years. That said I got a deal last year on Gama hooks on FaceBook  in the size I use most so I bought 2k so I am set for awhile.
