GeorgiaSpotSticker Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Alright... I just got a new x96 for the front of my boat. I got it all hooked up, it's getting power etc. But when I went to water test it, I dropped the trolling motor in the water, and waited to get a depth reading. It never came. I got a good temp reading, but the depth just kept flashing 0.0ft... and occasionally would jump around and start flashing different depths... like (19.2, 25.8, etc...) It would just keep flashing them. I never even got a good bottom reading. I installed a LCX-28c HD at the console, and it performs flawlously. I just don't get it. I had an old x85 up at the front, and it worked good and gave me a good bottom reading etc... then it got some moisture in it, and I got this new one... I know the transducer is intsalled correctly... I've got zip ties running the length of the shaft..... I just don't get it, anyone got any ideas? BTW: Sometimes it would try and pick up but all I would see was a bunch of dotted lines... Quote
Al Wolbach Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 I suggest you contact Lowrance at http://www.lowrance.com/. My guess is the transducer if everything is installed correctly.......................Al Quote
GeorgiaSpotSticker Posted August 2, 2007 Author Posted August 2, 2007 You think the whole unit is bad??? Anyone else? Quote
bassnleo Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 I would also say that it sounds like your transducer or it's cable may be bad. I don't think the whole unit is bad but who knows. I to would call Lowrance and get their opinion. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted August 3, 2007 Super User Posted August 3, 2007 Yep, does sound like a bad one out of the box and it's probably the transducer. One item, check the xducer cable and make sure nothing got pinched, crimped or cut when you deployed the TM. Quote

I guess I'll give lowrance a call. Quote
Al Wolbach Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 No, the zip ties will break long before damaging the cable. Let us know what Lowrance has to say after you contact them. I'm curious, thanks...................Al Quote
