Alright... I just got a new x96 for the front of my boat. I got it all hooked up, it's getting power etc. But when I went to water test it, I dropped the trolling motor in the water, and waited to get a depth reading. It never came. I got a good temp reading, but the depth just kept flashing 0.0ft... and occasionally would jump around and start flashing different depths... like (19.2, 25.8, etc...) It would just keep flashing them. I never even got a good bottom reading.

I installed a LCX-28c HD at the console, and it performs flawlously. I just don't get it. I had an old x85 up at the front, and it worked good and gave me a good bottom reading etc... then it got some moisture in it, and I got this new one...

I know the transducer is intsalled correctly... I've got zip ties running the length of the shaft..... I just don't get it, anyone got any ideas?

BTW: Sometimes it would try and pick up but all I would see was a bunch of dotted lines...

I would also say that it sounds like your transducer or it's cable may be bad.

I don't think the whole unit is bad but who knows.

I to would call Lowrance and get their opinion.

Yep, does sound like a bad one out of the box and it's probably the transducer. One item, check the xducer cable and make sure nothing got pinched, crimped or cut when you deployed the TM.

I checked it nothing got pinched... Is it possible I have the zip ties on TOO tight? I guess I'll give lowrance a call.

No, the zip ties will break long before damaging the cable. Let us know what Lowrance has to say after you contact them. I'm curious, thanks...................Al
