How much you spending?

So when does everyone official fishing season start? Here in NY it April 1 and bass season doesn’t open for keep till the third Saturday in June. How much does every one spend to get ready for there upcoming season? I’m already out about $300 and that just the basics, lines,terminal tackle, lures. Might even buy a new rod or reel too.

I stay stocked up throughout the year. I only replenish so rarely do I spend over $100 in tackle at a time. Unless it's a rod or reel. We don't have a season here and this is the first year in 3 years that we had solid ice.

I have a feeling I’m on the lighter end of the spectrum, here. So far $150 on a new rod, $175 on a new reel, and probably $250-300 on tackle/line/etc.

Probably about five grand this year still. I'm still testing rods and lures. All  of my confidence baits will set untouched. The orders will still be placed but saved for the bass boat I am buying spring of 2019.

Since January 1 maybe $50 & $30 of that was a gift card from Dick's Sporting Goods I got for my birthday.

But Between all the gift cards I get for Christmas and birthday from family and friends, it's been years since I've spent my own money on anything.

way too much.lol but then ive rebuilt my trailer this year and am replacing 4 stradics that are 10 plus years old with new ones so that gets expensive. as far as lures and such not too much. just restocked what I went through last year. added a few new things to experiment with but not a lot. maybe $200

Bought 2 new  spinning rods in bargain cave at Cabelas with x-mas gift cards.  Just bought  two new bait casting rods (buy on get one free) for $117.  That is the only gear so far.  In spring it usually costs me $50 to put new line on and  about $80 to buy licenses in 2 states.   After 13 years with old boat, I bought a new one this year, so I guess you could say A LOT this year.

Not really all that much so far. Replenished some Zoom, Roboworm and Charlie Brewer stuff. I have a few jerkbaits coming. I don't really need anything. 

 

I want to put a Tatula or Revo on a Avid X I bought late last season. Not pulling the trigger on that until I get some type of discount promo type thing or something. BPS has a reel trade in thing coming up soon I believe.

 

I'm doing a trip to Lake Ontario this year. My current trailer tires are fine but something is telling me to put a set of radials on. More of a piece of mind thing. I fly solo for the most part and getting a bit of pressure to get a manual/auto mustang vest. But my current best is fine but wife and friends know I don't wear it all the time.

Some good advice on the forum has been to learn to use what you have, and I have a long way to go to accomplish that.

 

Its hard to resist the really amazing deals out there over the past couple of winters on standard-issue tackle: shad raps and senko packs for $2.50 each (if you buy 10!), Bandit and Norman lures for $2 at Walmart, etc. 

 

I've gone overboard for the rate of consumption and usage, and my goal for 2018 is to spend less time on tackle and more time on using it.

I don't know what I have spent so far, but I come to agreement with my wife that from now on I'll have 50 bucks to spend each month on fishing gears. If I don't spend this will accumulate to next month. Also this budget not include other stuffs like cloths hat and shoe.

I am always "that guy" when it comes to not wanting to spend money on fishing. I am always the, it's almost as good as that one and it's 2 bucks cheaper. That being said, I am "gearing up" for a trip this spring and I spent $20 bucks on two spinning combos on clearance at Walmart, not the best, but surprisingly usable. Also, I got a couple of new baits for my birthday. I am also heading to BPS this Monday to grab some of the 5 for $10 Booyah Spinners, and I am finally going to actually buy the actual "rage claw" plastic trailers for my jigs. So I would say all-in-all I usually don't break $100 each year. But that is just the cheapskate in me!!

For this coming season I have purchased a lot of fishing gear (Rods, reels, lines, terminal tackle and lures) between November and now. That's because this will be my first full fishing season where I have a kayak.

 

I have had to upgrade my arsenal as I found things that work and didn't work fishing from a sit-in. I am a frugal shopper and almost everything I bought was a sale or clearance item. In the end I spent between $400-500 dollars total.

I am around the  $1,500 mark. I bought a Helix 10 last month, so that is a huge chunk of it. Other than that I just re stocked on my main baits, and grabbed all my line and hooks. Miscellaneous stuff like non piercing cull tags, megastrike, G Juice, some JJs.

$5 on a clearance lure here and there. This winter I sold a marcum and bought a striker 5 for the boat/ice. Bait monkey only gets me if it's a rod and reel that's super cheap....and even then I can honestly say i have a good control on him. Hasn't always been that way but I spent thousands this summer on fishing stuff. Totally worth it:)

No fishing seasons here but I do have to wait for ice out.  So far I'm at about $80 spent on tackle and a reel.  Not too bad.  Still have some big purchases coming up for my kayak though, like a new lithium battery and a truck bed extender to haul it.

Very little...maybe $50 since Thanksgiving....mostly blade baits.  But, its about to get started.  I don't spend much in the off-season.  No need - I'm the guy that loses one lure and within a half hour of being home, I've ordered three more....just in case.  Had a nice day a few weeks ago and lost two blade baits in one wind-shortened outing.  I've gotten no less than six since then...just in case
