DaveInGA Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 A retired gentleman at my gun club I shoot skeet with has a Honda 15HP 4-stroke with less than 8 hours time on it he's not using and wants to get rid of. He's offered to make me a good deal on it. It's either a 2006 or 2007. I don't know anything about Hondas and wanted to get feedback from someone who owns this motor. Thanks, Dave Quote
jbmaine Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Hi Dave, I bought a 2006 20hp Honda this spring and so far it's been great. It pushes our 14ft Lund with out a problem and will run all day on a couple gal. of gas ( or less). With less than 8 hrs. on the 15 you are looking at, it's not even broken in yet, plus it should have a 3yr warrenty. You could check the Honda web site to make sure it's transferable. Hope this helps. JB Quote
DaveInGA Posted August 3, 2007 Author Posted August 3, 2007 jbmaine, Yes, that information was quite helpful. I'm not at all familiar with the 4-cycles, but am very interested due to the quiet, clean running and good gas mileage. Anything I can do to save on gas is a good thing. Regards, Dave Quote
HPBB Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Not sure about the 15HP, but one of the guys I go to canada with each year has a 130HP Honda on a 18 foot Alumacraft Deep V and its a great motor( I think its a 2002). its so quiet that you sometime do not even know its running. and it hardly uses gas.he fills the boat tank up at home and runs it all week and leaves with gas still in the tank. My dad has the same boat (17 footer though) with a 125HP Merc 2 stroke and he has to fill up once maybe twice in that week. The 130 Honda is a bit slower than the 125 Merc, I am sure that 15hp is a great motor. Honda make a good motor. I am looking for a new motor for my boat , have to buy used, but If I could afford a new one The Honda would be close to the top of the list. Quote
nra4life Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 4-stroke hondas are good engines, very quiet, good gas mileage. But remember that this motor will be slower that a 2-stroke 15, significantly heavier, and somewhat more to maintain Quote
TopDog Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 For what its worth, click on this link and read the peoples reviews. Each case is individual, and from reading them it seems more have good luck than bad luck. http://www.epinions.com/boat-Motors-All-Outboard-Horsepower-0_to_15 Quote
