I’m way south in NM, but I have started to fish it before around 60. Smallmouth were lighting it up. That was a pop-r, I’m still trying to build my confidence in throwing a buzzbait at around 57....

If you see surface action, baitfish jumping or splashes try a top water lure regardless of the water temps.

If you meter suspended bass about 15' or less try a jerk bait as the water warms.

Sixty is my magic mark, but there are occasions they will hit topwater in colder conditions. One of my best techniques for low light conditions in water below 60 is a spinnerbait fished moderately fast within a foot of the surface.

I am right there with you!  I will be going out tomorrow, its been so cold here last couple weeks after a huge warm spell, water temps have probably dropped a little.   Cannot wait for top water action.  Will probably just go Smallie fishing this weekend at the snake river. At least try haha!

I went to CJ friday and saturday and water temps were 44. Cove arm was 38. I caught one bass both days and he was in 43ft of water. Alot of people struggled on both days. Ive graphed fish from 30 to 50 feet on the channel up the snake arm.

Last week on the other hand when it was mid 60s, water temp was close to 50 and people were cranking them pretty good. Air temp this week suppose to be low 30s so it should push them and the water temp back down for a few more week.

Yeah it is back to cold and windy! Went to the snake river, used spinnerbait and didn't have much luck, couldn't get out deep enough from the bank.  mostly wanted to explore the snake river around the Oregon border, a lot of great little spots I found to fish once the weather warms up!  cant wait to try out CJ, know of any good spots to fish from the bank?

Not right now. Fish is around 50' deep.

Get a small float tube with a trolling motor and fish the narrows. Good fishing there in summer time

Yeah I was planning on getting a Pelican Bass Raider or like you said a one man tube or something this spring for the summer!  That will definitely be something I do at CJ!  Checked out the Snake around Nyssa/Ontario and it was awesome!

I've noticed out west these bass are wimps (Az) gotta be over 65f. Where I'm from in northern Michigan we catch them almost as soon as I've melts and water into low 50s

You can hook up with me sometime out on the bass boat. I usually fish alone.
