That is awesome. What size is the Suzuki?  Also what did you get for a trolling motor and electronics?  Polar Kraft makes a nice rig. I had a 15 1/ foot stick steer boat that flew.  It rode really nice too.

What is on the back deck?  Port side.

Beautiful boat - you should be proud.

I figured that is what it was...just was not sure.  Eh...I see the challenge they have there...it's not a horrible design...just different.

Suzuki 140A 4 stroke.

Came with basic electronics, which is fine, I'd rather save the $ and upgrade myself. It came with a Hook 4 in dash, which will stay for running speeds, and graphs mounted next to console and bow will probably be helix 9's or 10's. and a 12V MK Edge 55lb 52" on bow, which will immediately be taken off and sold. Upgrading to a Fortrex 80lb, 52", i think. glad it came with basic equipment, saved some $! I got a GREAT deal on it!!!!!!!!!!

Once you get some time on that motor please give us an update on the rigs performance.  I have had a few guys up in PA that ran Suzuki motors and their performance was great. They were really very reliable as well. I believe they would be found more often on bass boats if their dealer network was larger.  I am lucky I have a dealer that carries them near me. I actually considered repowering with a Suzuki 70 on my Lowe. It got kinda expensive when I figured in the controls and cables.  Still I like the way they run.

I know you just got the boat and would certainly prefer a "new" trolling motor.  However,  I would do some research and see if any of the local dealers, that carry fiberglass rigs, have a "take off" Fortrex 80 in their stock.  With the popularity of the new Ultrex they may have had someone upgrade a new boat to one of the ultrex. It may have never seen the water, but may save you some cash.

I will report in once I do run it. It’s over 1,000 miles away right now! Lol

meeting dealer near my brothers down in the Savannah Ga. (800 mile trip) area next week to pick up. Good thing though! There are some AWESOME little lakes in that area to catch my first bass out of it! And possibly a lunker( my personal best is from there, 11lb 6 oz)

I’ll be sticking around there for a couple days to fish. Dealer is going to water test everything this week, making sure everything is 100%.

good idea about finding a TM! I’ll do that!

*****question about breaking period on this motor. I know if you search the web on breakin, you’ll get 100 different answers. Some say go by the book, some say run it like you stole it from the get-go.

I kinda always went by the book, but that’s after dealer ran it, and usually runs it wot to see if prop is correct size. Which in this case, dealer knows what prop it gets because we talked about that already. He’s sold 6 of these with the Suzuki 140A, and all ran best with Suzuki 23 pitch SS.

This dealer ( I’m actually selling with the owner) says his breakin on it is:

1) idle at boat ramp at least 5 minutes till warmed up.

2) get on plane and run it at around 4500 rpms, while varying throttle/speed for around 10 minutes.

3) then take it WOT for around 1 minute

4) take back down to mid 4-4500 rpms for a couple minutes

5) trailer it

what do y’all think.

Great rig! I have the same motor, owned Yamaha’s and Mercs over the years but this is the best motor I’ve owned. Super quiet, even at wot and super smooth running. I responded to your other post about break in, don’t worry too much about it. Enjoy??

I would look at the engines owners manual and go by it. I am sure Suzuki has some guidelines.

just got ahold of the owner of the dealership, who’s going to do the water test, and I told him not to take it above half throttle. He said that will be no problem. I know not to baby it too much during the first hour, as that can glaze the internal parts, which will forever alter performance.
