TylerT123 Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 I bought a Curado K and I sent it to Shimano because I felt there was something wrong with it. I didn’t fish it and it was still under warranty. I recently got it back and they replaced the drive, pinion and ball bearing. Anyone know what could have been the problem? @Delaware Valley Tackle Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted February 10, 2018 Super User Posted February 10, 2018 Your description is too vague. Why did you send it in exactly? Did they replace the drive gear and pinon gear or did they replace the bearings that support the drive shaft shaft, pinion gear? "And ball bearing" doesn't make sense. Quote

It was making an odd noise, they replaced the drive gear, they replaced the pinion gear and they also replaced a ball bearing. Quote
EvanT123 Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 I’d say what they replace is what was wrong with it. How’s it feel now? 2 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 I doubt they spent any time diagnosing. It's impossible to tell without seeing it prior to repair. From what they replaced I assume it was grinding? As long as it works now don't fret. I'm sure it's no system wide problem or we'd hear lots about it. 2 Quote

A lot better, I just wanted to know the cause of something like that happening. It seems odd that a reel that’s less than a year old would have problems already. 2 minutes ago, Delaware Valley Tackle said: I doubt they spent any time diagnosing. OnthePotomac Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 You don't mention how long you had the reel and how much you had used it. Was the thumb bar down when you would start a cranking retrieve? Quote

Falkus Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 Very short life I would say that they just slapped more grease on the gears to make it smooth. Quote
