The first Elite event of the year started yesterday at Lake Martin.  Only four anglers averaged over three lbs per fish on day one and the difference between 10th place and those in the 60s is approximately 3.5 - 4 lbs.  It looks like it could be anyone's tournament to win if the top four don't maintain their pace today.

I saw a study done at one time that showed if an angler caught 5 2lb fish at every event they would make the classic every year.  It may be glorious to win but consistency throughout the year is paramount.  ;)

Warming up each day -

70's there tomorrow.

Bet they hammer them Saturday.

Size may still be an issue but 3lber's will be like 'gold'.

So different (super muddy I mean) from anything I'll see early season.

Fun to watch though.

This 2nd day weigh-in is a darn Marathon ~ !

This could still be decent entertainment with way less anglers.

Not to take away anything from everyone who has qualified to fish - but more is often not necessarily better.

I haven't gotten to watch any of it. I have been able to keep up with the leaderboard though. I'm playing the Fantasy Fishing thing for the first time and it's pretty fun so far. However it would be more fun to get to watch it too. Gotta work thankfully. I'm off Sunday, so hopefully I'll be able to watch it on my phone then, if it will load up. My team thus far is in the top 25 with one of my guys in the top 10. My team consists of Mark Daniels Jr., Randy Howell, Justin Lucas, Brett Hite and Wesley Strader. ?

Omori goes into the final day with over a 4 lb lead.  I wonder if the spot he has been going to every day will hold up and produce fish for one more day.  He says he plans to go back there.

Every year I go to Bassmaster.com on a Saturday evening and see if I can find video of the Saturday weigh in.  Nope.  That, along with their site turning the video volume up to full blast when you play one of their videos are some of the reasons I'm almost done with their stupid site.

We'll know in the first hour - if Tak-O can't make it happen, he might be hosed as he's not been able to put much of anything else together after he leaves "The Magic Mudhole".

Going to be interestesting . . .

It kills me that Takahiro  caught a bass that had a crankbait in its mouth that he lost on a snag the day before . How crazy is that ?

While fishing Saturday’s semifinal round of the Bassmaster Elite at Lake Martin presented by Econo Lodge, Takahiro Omori caught a bass that had two crankbaits in its mouth.

So much for the theory they want hit again ?

I heard on Bassmaster live Scott Rook was the only angler to catch a limit everyday he fished last year and he didn't finish high enough to make the classic.

Although I agree consistency is the key along with a couple 4LBers mixed in

Basstrakk indicates that Omori's spot is holding up for at least a limit of 2 lb'ers.  Someone in the top 4 or 5 is going to have to have an upper teens to 20 lb bag to catch him.

Watching Bassmaster Live and was wondering what some of the abbreviations for stats are such as TK and +4C? I assume LP is land percentage.

Tak just nailed a good one on a spinnerbait -

Might have just wrapped this one up

Congratulations to Omori on the win!  The next one isn't until the first week in April.  Looking forward to the Classic in the interim.
