Big_Easy_Bassin Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Ok folks, I am stumped. Did a little bit of salt water fishing the past few days, and I rigged/paired a few bass rigs with something more suitable for speckled trout and redfish. So here’s the situation... I took my Daiwa Tatula 100 6.3:1 and Tatula XT 100 7.3:1 and spooled them up with 30# Power Pro. I had each one on an unnamed 7’ MF rod. Same brand, same power, same action, same rod. The standard Tatula was casting like a dream, but I really needed a faster reel to keep up with the trout when they bit and ran towards me. However, when I picked up the XT, I just couldn’t get the distance I was getting with the other. I’m very familiar with the braking system and how to set them, and I set each one as close to exactly the same as you can get. Does anyone have any insight as to why I couldn’t cast the XT as well as the other? Quote
Finnz922 Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Sometimes Daiwa uses grease and over-greases the spool bearings. I always take them out and clean them, remove grease if necessary, and apply a drop of oil before reinstalling. 2 Quote
