jbrew73 Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Can anyone comment on the pros/cons of tying direct vs a snap/split ring? Quote

At least on the original Pop-Rs, you always tied direct and shifted the knot down toward the bottom of the eye because you wanted to get the cupped face up in the air so it spit more than it "popped/blooped." Then guys started sanding their baits when the lure was "brought back" to remove the cupped bottom lip. Then the fancy versions came out like the Splash-It, Rico, etc. that were designed and built to give you the same action right out of the box. 2 Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 3, 2018 Super User Posted February 3, 2018 Direct. I do not want any "extra" weight on the nose of the Pop-R. 1 Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted February 3, 2018 Super User Posted February 3, 2018 I have used duo-locks for years...no complaints. The ones that used to come on the front of my Luhr Jensen Speed Traps were the best...almost out. Eagle Claw used to make a good one but they got to wide. Quote

edfitzvb Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 BPS clips for me, but I like being able to change quickly. I also like the extra freedom of motion and the small clips add very little weight Quote

Super User Deleted account Posted February 3, 2018 Super User Posted February 3, 2018 Direct, unimproved clinch knot, tag end facing down, cut flush with bottom lip, each time, every time. Goes for all poppers. Quote

Oh well, if we're telling everyone, I leave the old ties on the popper, which keeps me from having to slide the knot down every few casts... %$##$ InterWeb® 2 Quote
