You're on an electric motor only lake. You are at the far end of the lake and it will take you 20 or thirty minutes to get back to the loading ramp with the trolling motor, a storm comes up rain and lightening. Do you fire up the gas engine and fly back to the ramp, or take your chances  with the trolling motor only?

Of course.

I've operated on 10hp limited lakes before and fired the big motor when a storm was approaching.  Any conservation agent puts the book away when your life and limb is possibly at stake.

You guys allowed to have the gas motor on at a all electric lake?

Some of the all electric spots I fish at doesn't even allow a gas engine on, well that was then-maybe I need to call and update me self :-?

Have done it twice this year.  And once when I wasn't in danger, just wanted to run the big motor for a minute.

;D ;D

You bet I would! My uncle has done it a few times as well. I don't even think that you would get into that much trouble.

Yes I would definately fire up the big motor, I would rather pay the fine than get struck by lightning.

ive had a park ranger tell me to fire up and head for the boat ramp due to bad storms coming. some electric only lakes round here make you take your prop off before hitting the water.
