ghost Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 I understand, 2 different animals. I tend to fish a variety of lures and do like a 28-31 IPT. I don't want to buy both, but do want to get one and the other at a later time. Both seem to have very good reviews and both seem well built. What ya'll say? Quote
drscholl14 Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 I don't know anything about Kastking other than that crazy Philly Fishing youtube guy uses them. After looking at them I would think the Assassin would be a little more versatile being a 6.3.1. However if you are a finesse guy or do a lot of punching, flipping, or pitching, the 9.3.1 of the Speed Demon might be what you want. Let us know what you think of whichever one you purchase. Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted January 31, 2018 Super User Posted January 31, 2018 Are you more comfortable reeling slower for baits that require it (burner) or reeling faster on baits that require it (assassin)? You now know why we are borderline hoarders when it come to rods/reels and always have an excuse to buy another!! Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted January 31, 2018 Super User Posted January 31, 2018 If you are going to get both eventually, I would suggest starting with the Assassin. It is a more versatile reel than the Speed Demon. I have used mine for jerkbaits, topwater, shakyheads, tubes and T-rig Senkos. Quote
DomQ Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Assassin, more versatile reel. All you need to know buddy. Speed demon is to fast for some applications IMO. Quote
rcg703 Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Another vote for the Assassin. Take a look at the Stealth too. Quote

nascar2428 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 I agree with the stealth being an excellent option. However the assassin can be purchased on e-bay for a ridiculous $43.99 right now. That my friends is crazy crazy!! Quote

On ebay Speed Demon is also on sale for $53.99 and Stealth for $39.99 1 Quote
DroneFisher Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 I see all the vote but I must say...if you have never thrown a super high speed reel you need to try it. It is a lot easier to slow your cadence down on a high speed reel compared to speeding up your cadence on a slow speed reel. I have and continue to use both, but the Speed Demon has three slots in my rod rack. Quote
Bassman37 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 I went with the Assassin first and came back for the Stealth. I love them both for their own applications. The Assassin is my one and only choice for a frogging reel. You definitely can't go wrong with either for the price. Quote
ratherbfishin1 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 I was going to get the speed demon but the weight is what turned me away. It is like 8.3 oz so if your ok with that then great but to me i don't like using heavy rods and reels. It's just my preference but that is the reason i didn't get it. The super fast gear ratio was still really tempting but i don't see myself flipping and pitching with that heavy of a reel and that is what i wanted it for. I know they both have amazing reviews on amazon though. Good Luck! Quote
FishDewd Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Royale Legend is also a good choice, and is right in between those two for speed at 7.0. Quote
