SoFloSully Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Has anyone used this rod? I am looking into getting one, wondering if anyone here has any insight on it. Quote
npl_texas Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 I don't know if that's new or if I've just never noticed it but I'd be interested to hear any reviews. Quote

kschultz76 Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Theres a review of it on TackkeTour, search the rod archive. I’ve considered that rod quite a bit. Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted January 31, 2018 Super User Posted January 31, 2018 You will like the Dobyns rods. gary makes some good stuff. My wife and I both fish Dobyns rods for frogs. Mine is a Champion XP DC 705C and I love it. She has a Sierra series rod. Both fish really nice. Quote

I’ve considered that rod quite a bit. The TT review is for the 706CB which is a much different rod. I've had my 736CB for almost a year and a half. The rod was designed as a chatterbait rod. There was a lot of interest in a composite rod for chatterbaits. Because the rod is a composite rod it had the CB designation. The range of weights for the rod is pretty broad at 1/4 to 7/8 ounce and the sweet spot is 3/8 and 1/2 ounce. The rod is very light for a composite and balanced, like all Dobyns. The rod has some serious power while employing a moderate tip. Unlike other Dobyns CB models, this model shuts off a bit quicker, part of the reason it's a great chatterbait rod. Once I fished it the first time, I tied on a 1/2 ounce spinnerbait and it has been my go to spinnerbait rod since. I have excellent feel of the bait. The 736CB is versatile in that it works very well for big wake baits and the jumbo squarebills. I plan to get another this spring, it's flat fun to fish. Don't let the 6 power designation scare you. That's a crankbait power which is different than the standard C series rods. Hope this helps you. Quote
