Super User Crestliner2008 Posted January 30, 2018 Super User Posted January 30, 2018 have a 40 lb thrust Minn Kota that I want to use as a side pulling, secondary electric motor. Don't want another heavy deep cycle battery in this 16' tracker. Saw this one on Amazon: Light 12V Battery Would this be a waste of money, or would it work for slow side pulling this boat for a few hours? This battery had some great reviews. It also had some not so great. Not looking to run all day by any stretch. Thanks guys! Quote
Bassman37 Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 I use a similar one on my MotorGuide 45 (Wilderness Tarpon UB12350) also available at Amazon at a similar price. It runs fine for about three hours trolling speed. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted January 30, 2018 Super User Posted January 30, 2018 I bought a similar batt at Batteries Plus locally for my 30 pound thrust MinnKota on back of my kayak. I can go for hours! Never been depleted yet. Methinks it'd do what you need. Quote
Bassman37 Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 I should also note that I use mine on my 10 foot Portabote which weighs 80 pounds empty so a heavier boat should get less hours run time I would assume. I just grew tired of lifting a 65 pound deep cycle battery in and out...age certainly has its effect! Quote
