Mason Bohland Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I am new to bassresource.com, and I love the few Dobyns Rods I have and have some questions for some people who may know more about their rods. I have a 735 fury that I use for jigs and flipping around docks, and a 705CB fury, I cannot afford the super high end rods, but I have 2 other 7ft medium heavy rods, I need some feedback, should I get a fury or colt 703? Or should I get a different model next? Quote
Super User WRB Posted January 29, 2018 Super User Posted January 29, 2018 Welcome to BR, Dobyns rods are good products and Gary often has mislabeled and factory refurbished rods availble on his home page or a phone call and direct contact is your best choice. Tom 1 Quote

I know this is old but I have a fury and i love it. people say dobyns arent the most sensitive rods but even with my fury, one of the lower end dobyns, I have had no problem feeling every pebble, the change in structure, and the slight hits from fish. I use the 703 for light jigs and t rigs, and love the smooth, more moderate-fast action and parabolic bend because i can play fish well, and it makes for a very nice rod for jerkbaits, topwater, and spinnerbaits. Its also good for crankbaits. I'm now skeptical about "paying for more sensitive rods", because people say the DX isn't even that sensitive...yet ive always felt everything with the fury. Quote

BassFisher22 Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 I have a Dobyns Fury 703c and I love it. When’s I am not fishing with my dad on his boat, I am doing a lot of bank fishing. I normally take only one rod with me and that is the Dobyns Fury 703. It is an all around great rod. I use it for anything from senkos to frogs. (Where I live bass don’t get bigger than 4 or 5 pounds) I have never had a problem feeling the bottom as it’s super sensitive. I am definitely not an expert though. Quote
