I'm thinking of moving transducer from stern to bow mount instead, so when I fish I know what coming up not what behind me. Now I think I will need some kind of mounting arm and brackets, right? In this case I would like to be able to use the same transducer in my kayak as well. Any one wanna recommend any mounting hardware to be able to mount on both jon boat and kayak?

Here's a few

Scotty:

RAM:

The RAM one costs a little more but would be easier to get another ball mount so you can have a mount on both crafts and you'd just have to move the arm between the two.

JJ,

I use the Ram mount also in my Kayak. I use a track mounted ball to attach the arm to.  Really works well. I don't tighten the clamp much just snug so if I hit a stump or something submerged it will swing. It's a snap to remove.

I might go with Scotty one since I already have Scotty mighty mount on my kayak, I just need to install track rail on my jon boat.

Will those mount can handle 10-15mph? I always forget to put my trolling motor up when running outboard engine(15hp) and I afraid I will do the same with transducer.

If it is okay to install transducer behind trolling motor?

I know you want to be able to move it between your boat and kayak, but your kayak also has a recessed transducer mount on the bottom. Have you thought about buying another transducer?

Yes and no, I really wanna upgrade the Elite 4x on my Jon boat but it is hard to explain to the wife why. I fish kayak the same water as my Jon boat and normally hug to shore line so I might not even need one for kayak.
