Sportsking19 Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Hi I’m looking for a reel to put on the rod I got for ripping through grass and I was wondering what I should take into consideration like max drag, reel speed, and what line Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 24, 2018 Super User Posted January 24, 2018 You probably want a high speed reel. The rest depends on WHAT you're ripping through grass. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted January 24, 2018 Super User Posted January 24, 2018 I use 12# CXX, OG 7.1:1 Zillion , and a LTB 7' mh/f rod for that. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted January 24, 2018 Super User Posted January 24, 2018 Any low pro baitcaster will have enough drag for bass fishing. Even the lowest rated drags are over 8#. That's enough to snap most MH rods on a dead lift. Quote

CroakHunter Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 I will second the 7:1 ratio and 12-15lb cxx or big game. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted January 24, 2018 Super User Posted January 24, 2018 Depends on the IPT. I've never felt that 32" was not enough. Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted January 24, 2018 Super User Posted January 24, 2018 The rod and line much more important than reel IMNSHO. Anything with a 6-7:1 (or any of the silly fast ones around) will work. A fairly crisp 7' MH fast rod and 15lb mono or 30-40 lb braid is a good place to start. Quote
