best use for bass fishing st croix pc66mhf

i have inherited this rod, st croix pc66mhf and was wondering what the best use for this rod is, lure weight, line. I was thinking about jigging with it because the research I did said that st Croix makes a more powerful rod then most. (not sure if I said that right) but basically a mh would be someone elses h. thoughts?... thanks.

by the way its a st Croix avid, I don't care about lure weight cause it tells me on the rod what to use and the line, mainly just wondering what purpose this rod would best serve, in addition if there was a certain weight lure to use to make my life easier that would be appreciated... thanks

I like the one I have for throwing ploppers in tight areas like docks.  Good for spooks in the same areas.

Ok you are confused one way or another. If the model number is "PC66MHF"  then it is a ST Croix Premier series 6'6" medium heavy fast action casting rod. That would be a really nice jig rod & worm rod. I used to fish that same rod. I really liked it for use around docks, the length helped with accurate casting.

If it is an Avid series rod it won't be a "PC..." but instead it would be a "AVS..."

Sorry I goofed. You are correct! I should have typed  "AVC". My point was that if the rod model was "PC... it would be a premier series rod. If it started AVC it would be an Avid. That was where the poster had confused me.

Either way it should make a good jig and worm rod. That was what I used mine for.

yup my bad, the guy told me it was an avid and I just typed the numbers in here to get info, that is probably why when I tried to research it I failed, I kept typing in avid series and then the numbers, everything that popped up premier series I disregarded because I assumed it was an avid. thanks for setting me straight. I did plan to jig with it in tight areas so I am glad that you gave me that info. there isn't much heavy cover where I normally fish so I think it will hold up fine. I was a little worried about the fast action tip for jigging, and problems there with hook ups?

I've had the PC60MHF 6' version for a few years and it's been great for short distance pond and reservoir fishing with medium spinnerbaits with large trailers. I caught my first 9 pounder on it. It's also caught fish on large crankbaits and worms. Right this minute I don't recall if I caught my first 10 on it too. It's still too early.

 

Now that I have a 6'9" LTB Spinnerbait rod the little one doesn't get the workout it once did. Still, it only weighs 3.9 oz. when the sun gets hot overhead and I get to feeling old from hours of tangling with the pads and sticks.
