Caliyak Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Just need to verify a common problem on this reel. The magnetic brakes do not touch or reach the spool. There are too far. Has anyone seen this or know about this problem? One guy on youtube stated he added small washers to lift the strip. let me know Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Mag brakes are not intended to contact any moving part. The magnetic field is what slows the spool. Don't believe everything you see on the internet. Except here of course. ? 2 1 Quote
georgeyew Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 My Spartacus magnets do not touch the spool and it works just fine. 1 Quote

nascar2428 Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 The centrifugal brakes, the magnetic brakes, and the spool tension knob, all work together to fine tune this particular reel. I've viewed quite a few videos on this and other KastKing reels. Most of those knocking the reels performance don't even know the names of the brakes or tension knob, and never even did any practice casting. Total user error in my opinion. 1 1 Quote

You're absolutely right. It's as if somebody asked them to say bad things about KastKing, know what I mean? 1 1 Quote
Super User MassYak85 Posted January 20, 2018 Super User Posted January 20, 2018 Like the others said, I would be very worried if the magnetic brakes on my reel were grinding against the spool. 1 Quote
Caliyak Posted January 22, 2018 Author Posted January 22, 2018 This is the right place to ask and thank you for the info. Quote

I found no need to do this as the brakes work fine as is. It is a very forgiving reel and great for those that are new to baitcasters. After buying this reel I went from someone who used a baitcaster every once in a while, to taking one with me every trip. 1 Quote
FishDewd Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 I have a Royale Legend that I use all the time on a Lew's rod... at some point I need a softer rod, but those Kast Kings are great for the money. Mine will outcast my Abu Garcia on the same pole and set-up. Plus I can throw light baits with it, like unweighted senkos. Just takes some careful tuning to do it. 1 1 Quote
