Patrickcatalano Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Hello everyone, Has anyone used the RipStop yet? It looks different then your typical jerkbaits. Quote
Super User gim Posted January 17, 2018 Super User Posted January 17, 2018 I haven't but they are on sale this week at Fleet Farm so if you hear they are any good let me know so I can go buy one! Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted January 17, 2018 Super User Posted January 17, 2018 This is the first I've heard of this one. Have not fished it. Interesting design. Of course, the past two or three seasons, the good folks at Rapala have worked over time feeding the Hype Machine. In most cases the baits have been OK - but that's about it. This one appears to be in that category for me. A-Jay 2 Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted January 17, 2018 Super User Posted January 17, 2018 I have a pretty good collection of shallow and deep diving Shadow Raps already (which I like very much) and the RipStop just seems too close in design and action for me to "diversify" to such a small level. IF I find a good sale on them, I'll probably pick one or two up but at their current price...they will likely remain on the shelf. Quote
rmcguirk Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Got one for Christmas from my boys, but it is going to be quite a while before we've got water around here to try it out... Quote
RFSims Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 On two recent fishing trips I outfished my buddy's Rip-stop with a Megabass vision 110. The next trip the Rip-stop outfished the Vision 110. Quote
DCales84 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 Its smaller than the Shadow Rap series and is pretty lightweight. I used one last year on a spinning setup with 6lb YoZuri Hybrid and it may have hit 3-4" at most. It did produce fish as well. Good colors and action as with any Rapala brand lure. Seems that most people don't like it as its much smaller than they expect it to be. 1 Quote
davecon Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 They work on snook. Haven't tried them for bass yet. Quote
Super User gim Posted February 11, 2018 Super User Posted February 11, 2018 Well I got sucked into buying one at a discount in perch pattern. Its noticeably smaller than other rapala jerk baits. I may not even be able to toss it on a bait caster. Who has tried using one on a bait caster? Or will I be forced to use a spinning setup with this smaller lure? Quote
Primus Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 I have not used the Rip Stop but the Shadow Rap is one of the best jerkbaits out there and compares favorably to the Japanese jerkbaits on the market in my opinion . 1 Quote
Scarborough817 Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 i believe @Attila has fished them maybe he could comment Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Pointer 78sp is very popular. This will fit in that category. Quote
