Hey guys,

Can you guys recommend a shallow water suspending jerkbait? I'm looking for something that will run around the 1-2 foot depth range so I can work over early weed growth in the spring, as well as work over flooded timber without getting hung up every cast. I have had decent success with the shadow rap, but the action leaves something to be desired when trying to cover larger flats.

Thanks

I’ve had great success with both sizes of Strike King KVD jerkbaits

( shallow runners). They’ll go deeper than what your looking for but I often run them over shallow weedbeds and lay downs, just gotta keep the rod tip up. Lots of action on them too.

They're a bit pricey, but the Lucky Craft Flash Minnows are pretty shallow suspenders

Well considering my favorite jerkbait is a vision 110 those are a nice price drop. Those are the exact ones I have been looking at, but they are on constant back order in the 110 size on TW. And I can't seem to find the 95 size anywhere. Anyone know where I can find them?

Although I haven't fished them yet - Megabass came out with a squarebill version of the 110 that is billed as a shallow runner that suspends.

Thanks A-Jay,

I can't believe I never knew about that website, It has a bunch of other colors of the 110 JR I have been trying to find for some time. Once this hardwater were experiencing thaws out I'll give them a try and let you know what I think.

Ima flit floater in the 120 series. THe bills are chartreuse or orange differentiating them from the regular suspending flits. They run between 1-2 feet deep. Also the original floating rapala F13 size.

Lucky Craft Spazz. I used it first for fishing for brown trout in the White River in Arkansas on gravel riffles that are only a couple feet deep and it performed well.

Yo-Zuri 3DB jerkbait, dives to 2 feet and suspends nicely. The patterns are mostly prism colors, really good in clear water, in fact I'm a fan of all the baits in the 3D series.
