Mr. Marbles Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Hello, I have a Bass Pro Shop XPS Power Series, Deep Cycle 175, 12volt battery that I use for my trolling motor. Recently it has begun to leak acid around the positive node when connected and in use only. The acid comes out, and covers the connections and breaks the circuit so that the motor doesnt work. The battery is supposed to be maintenance free. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem? Or is the battery ruined? I have only had the battery about a year. Its practically brand new as I have only used it about a dozen times. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted June 14, 2007 Super User Posted June 14, 2007 Give BPS a call. What kind of warranty does the battery have? Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted June 14, 2007 Super User Posted June 14, 2007 I'd take it back. My bet is they will replace it. BPS is the best I have ever seen for customer satisfaction. Quote
Mr. Marbles Posted June 14, 2007 Author Posted June 14, 2007 Thanks for the replys. I am going to check my warranty. I dont have a receipt though because it was a gift. I have a buddy that works at BPS and it just happens I will be having lunch with him tomorrow. So Ill ask him what I can do. I will update when I resolve this. Quote
Guest SkyChimp Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 BPS will take it back. Who needs a receipt, it has BPS on the label - not like you bought it at Walmart. BPS is very forgiving. Quote
Mr. Marbles Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 Update: Well I took back my battery to BPS and since it had been just a bit over a year since the purchase I coudnt get back the full price of the battery. They did however prorate it and for a $80 battery they gave me me store credit for $60. I was happy with that and used it to buy a new battery which has worked great so far. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted July 3, 2007 Super User Posted July 3, 2007 Sounds like you did ok to only have a $20 pro rate. Hope the new one works well. Quote
