239fish Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 Hey everyone, new member of the site, 239 native looking to get a little help for Alligator Alley. I’m wondering if anyone has been out lately and how are the water levels? Hoping to fish mm41 on Saturday. 1 Quote
Super User geo g Posted January 10, 2018 Super User Posted January 10, 2018 Water is still up. Fish have unlimited access to the food rich flats. Not many reports coming from out there. Water has to drop big time before the fishing picks up out there. If yo go give us a report on the outing. Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted January 11, 2018 Super User Posted January 11, 2018 The fish are always biting in Alligator alley and there is always someone catching bass there. Best way to know is to go there and give it a try. Its spawning season for bass so you have a good chance at catching a big spawning bass. 1 Quote
topwaterrob Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 I'm hitting the flats tomorrow out of Holiday will advise how it goes. 1 Quote
239fish Posted January 11, 2018 Author Posted January 11, 2018 Thanks for the replies. Geo, that’s what I was afraid of. We are still going to try for Saturday. I will give an updated report after that. Thanks again. Quote

When the water finally drops fishing will get crazy out there. Quote
topwaterrob Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 I fished #1 out of Holiday park yesterday. though the day was beautiful, the fishing was slow. saw a ton of fish and moved a bunch, just couldn't get any decent bites. ended up with a few dinks on the trip. Quote
Kristquinones Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 Fished MM 31.5 today. Caught a 8 LM and 2 bluegills. All on a junebug colored worm. I'm new to the area so if you guys have any tips they will be greatly appreciated. 1 Quote
Super User geo g Posted January 14, 2018 Super User Posted January 14, 2018 Junebug, watermelon red, black, and Okeechobee are great colors for the Alley. Stick-o, U-vibe, fluke, trick worm, are great baits out there. Texas rig the stick-o, weightless fluke vary the cadence with some long pauses. Trick worm wacky, can use a wacky jig head with weed guard. I also use jigs with rage craws. Just a few baits and techniques from a long time Alley fisherman. Good luck! 1 Quote
239fish Posted January 14, 2018 Author Posted January 14, 2018 1-13-17 Water Level & Fishing Report I was able to get out to the Alley yesterday morning with my girlfriend. It turned out to be a good morning. The water level is still up and I could hear fish deep in the reeds, but there was plenty of action in the canal. We fished from 7:15 until about 1 and she was able to pull 43 bass (all on flukes) and I managed to get 41 (between flukes, shakey head, and wacky rig). Average bass was just under 2lbs with big bass weighing 4lbs 3oz. The bass were feeding heavily on bait fish and were even spitting them up when being caught. Bycatch for the day wasn't too horrible, together we caught 15 sunfish, oscar, and cichlids. Overall it was a fun day with beautiful weather. 4 Quote
topwaterrob Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 I fished mm34 today for a few hours in the morning. I caught a ton of small fish and missed one decent one. Caught most of them on fluke and pitching a blk/blue jig. fun times and the weather was awesome Quote

I had a very good day of bass fishing this past Saturday as well. My best 5 bass for Saturday was over 25 pounds, all caught from public land on lures in South Florida. I am looking towards to this weekend and got all my equipment ready. 1 Quote

Geo, sorry for the late reply. We put in at mm41 and fished mainly the south canal. We were able to find some flowing water that had the bass stacked in a few spots, otherwise we were working the shoreline. The best part about Saturday was when we saw a spot that “looks like a bass would be there”, they were there and hungry! Quote

My friend went to 41 Saturday, but out the north side, around the weir and out to the Indian res. He caught a few nice ones, but not the numbers you caught. Looking for current is always a good thing. They position for an easy meal. Congrats again brother. 1 Quote
