Crow Horse Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 I'm gearing up for the spring and have a fair selection of the Pit Bosses. Normally, I'm using 4/0 or5/0 EWG Gami hooks with worms. What's the recommended size? I fish a shallow pond and go weightless...... Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted January 7, 2018 Global Moderator Posted January 7, 2018 I use 5/0 Trokar TK 130. A 4/0 will fit and work fine but for punching, which is the only time I'll use a Pit Boss, I want that extra room. Mike Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 7, 2018 Global Moderator Posted January 7, 2018 I use a 4/0 EWG for a regular T rig, 5/0 straight shank for flipping. 1 2 Quote
OnthePotomac Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Try rigging them vertical for a nice change as a trailer. I screwed up and was thinking of the Devils Spear. Sorry. 1 Quote
GrumpyOlPhartte Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 What @OnthePotomac said! For me, it seems as if I get more hits when using a craw-style bait so the “claws” are vertical as opposed to the normal horizontal method. (How many fish have a horizontally oriented caudal fin.) I do prefer at least a 5/0 hook though - to penetrate the extra plastic. Totally unscientific observation but I’ve had better luck with Pit Bosses, Chigger Craws, Craw Fatties, and VileCraws by rigging them this way as trailers. Might be worth a shot. Quote
DCales84 Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 2/0-4/0 EWG or 4/0-5/0 straight shank hook. Hard to rig a Pit Boss wrong as they are very versatile. Quote
tonka_blue Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 If you're gonna do any flipping with a weight I'd throw a 4/0 straight shank otherwise weightless you could go 4/0 or 5/0 ewg Quote

aatwofour Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 A 3/0 EWG is perfect for the 4 inch size Quote
NorthwestBasser Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 The pitboss is my favorite, I've caught too many 4+lb bass on them to count. Bonus: their CHEAP!! I use a 4/0 big nasty trokar or gammy superline... Quote
