2tall79 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Does anyone make a reel that has a spool release button rather than a thumbbar? I got in the habit of thumbing the spool when fighting a fish and thumbbars just get me in trouble. Thanks Quote
2tall79 Posted January 6, 2018 Author Posted January 6, 2018 Yeah, I've got a couple 5001's. I guess I was thinking more about a low profile type of reel. Thanks. Quote
bigturtle Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 I highly doubt it, low profile reels all have clutch bar Quote
JawjaBoy Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Anout the last reels with a thumb button besides the Ambassadeurs were the Quantum 1310's and 1420MGC, and they weren't really "low" profile. I still have 7 older reels with thumb buttons and it DID take a bit of getting used to the thumb bars. Now I use both with no issues. Give the bars a chance, you'll get used to 'em in no time! Quote
Super User Angry John Posted January 7, 2018 Super User Posted January 7, 2018 A lot of the older reels have this. Megabass did a version of this reel. I have always been curious to fish one. Might be intresting to pitch with. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Ardent reels had one, but don't know about now. I think it was the Denny Brauer model. Quote
