Quarry Man Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 I tried to make an order today for $74.71. I had a $50 tacklewarehouse gift card and a $25 Visa did card. I placed the order and got a confirmation. Later on, I got an email saying: Greetings from Tackle Warehouse! The billing information we received with your order does not match the address your credit card company has on file. For your protection, Tackle Warehouse verifies the billing address you provided and matches the address on file with your bank. The correct billing address for your credit card can be obtained from your bank statement or by contacting your bank. Once you have verified your billing address with your bank, please contact us with the correct information via e-mail to info@tacklewarehouse.com or call 1-800-300-4916. Your order will be shipped as soon as the updated information has been received and your credit card has been successfully charged. If we do not hear from you within 48 hours the order will be canceled. Thank you for choosing Tackle Warehouse! WHAT DO I DO? i have never used visa cards before and I am quite confused. Quote
SWVABass Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Give them a call I’m pretty sure they will help you through the steps to get it corrected. They want your business 2 Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted January 5, 2018 Super User Posted January 5, 2018 Tackle warehouse is very particular with shipping and billing addresses, to the point they really won't ship to an address that is different than the billing address, I learned this the hard way. I have used a prepaid credit card in the past without any issues, so if I got your post right I am surprised that caused an issue. 1 Quote
tander Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 I don't think this should have caused a problem. I bet a call to them will get your order to you. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted January 5, 2018 Super User Posted January 5, 2018 Did you register your visa gift card (has you enter an address as part of the process)? I think that could be the issue and if not I'm sure TW will be more than happy to help you out. 1 Quote

They did something similar to me because I had used a few different adresses because I have my rods and reels shipped to my parents house, my tackle shipped to my house, and bought a gift for someone and had it shipped to them. I placed a 400 dollar order and it got put on hold for "security reasons" even though I could list every item I tried to order plus my debit card number without hesitation. They wanted to charge me a security charge and for me to check my bank acct and call them back with the exact amount of the mystery charge. Haven't ordered from them since. Quote
Mumbly Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 As @cgolfsaid, they are very particular with shipping and billing addresses. In my experience's with TW they have to match or they won't ship. Too much fraud nowadays I guess. I had tried a few times to order some tackle and have it sent to my friends as birthday or xmas gifts.....no dice. Quote

On some levels it does protect us a bit more so that is good. The real reason though might be that too many significant others complained that there lesser halves were ordering boatloads of tackle and having it shipped to work to conceal said purchases;) 2 Quote
smithy97 Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Here's a question - being from Ontario and only living a few minutes from Michigan, I would like to place an order from TW and ship it to a shipping depot in Michigan, then go across and pick it up. I can get free shipping that way. Would TW process the order since it's being shipped to a different address than my billing? Quote
scbassin Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 I have never had a problem with shipping to a different address, but I always order by phone. Maybe that is why. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted January 5, 2018 Super User Posted January 5, 2018 I always checkout with Paypal so there is never an issue. I try to do all my online shopping through paypal, which I have linked to a credit card I only use for online stuff/work travel. It gives me a double layer of fraud protection and I have never had a checkout issue anywhere. 1 Quote
Preytorien Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 I know in times past I haven't been able split payments on TW. Maybe they've changed it, but I know a couple times that happened to me, kind of irritating when I had a couple gift cards burning a hole in my pocket. I'd just give them a call to see what the preventing issue is - they're pretty helpful on the phone Quote

I live in Mexico, my billing is a mexican adress and when I order from them they ship it to a shipping depot in McAllen ( Texas ), to my sister in law’s adress in Cali or international to my home, it depends on to where I want it to be shipped. Just a heads up Tackle warehouse will ship to a different address than your billing address if you call them & explain your circumstances. I do it every year for the last 10 years in the winter. They talked on the phone and the only solution was for them to transfer the order to her and ship it to her. When I view my order history, this order no longer shows up for me. So maybe if it is on the card linked to your account it is ok. Quote
James Pondscum Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Had an order this fall. They would not split the difference on my gift card and a credit or another style gift card [visa, American express, etc] Quote
Johnbt Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Another vendor called me when I ordered 2 expensive reels with shipping to my girlfriend's house. Told me to add her address to my Visa account at my bank. Oh great, a hassle. So I logged in to my Suntrust account, clicked on my Visa account and lo and behold there was a place to add a second shipping address. Now when I use the Visa card for ebay, amazon, chewy.com, etc. I'm automatically given the shipping option of my house or her house. Just yesterday I ordered her something on ebay and clicked my address without thinking. I sent the seller a message asking if he'd ship it to her address and he replied sure. The joy of verified shipping addresses. Quote

My credit card and I believe all credit cards are linked to your home address as the billing address. But TW has always honored shipping to my winter address but billed to my home address. Two different states but my card is linked to my account. That might be the difference as you indicated. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted January 5, 2018 Super User Posted January 5, 2018 There has never been an order from Tacklewarehouse, or anyone else, that has been questioned for having my shipping address being my business which is different than my billing address which is my home. I believe shipping is cheaper to a business address than a residential address. oe Quote
smithy97 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 I emailed TW about billing/shipping address and they said all international shipping addresses must be the same as the billing address. Maybe adding the address of a shipping depot to my visa or calling TW and explaining things is the answer Quote
Mumbly Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 The last time I had tried to order the Lady to whom I spoke on the phone told me that both billing and shipping had to match, BUT....after several orders were made they would consider allowing a different shipping address. They are trying to cover their butts....can't say that I blame them but it is frustrating. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted January 7, 2018 Super User Posted January 7, 2018 I suspect it's due to them getting burned by fraud before. The CC company will get it's moeny back form TW, but TW has no worthwhile recourse to get their products back. I will again push for paying for all online stuff via a CC linked to Paypal. You can use whatever you want for a shipping address and you don't have to keep money sitting in a PP account. Quote
