I've been looking around and researching for my first finesse set-up that I want to splurge a bit for, and I think I've decided. I'm looking to mainly use this setup for wacky rigs, shaky heads, ned rigs, and the occasional drop shot rig.

Rod: Dobyns Sierra, 6'9", medium-light/fast

Reel: Daiwa RG, 5.6:1, 2500 size

As far as line goes, chances are I'll end up going with ~12lb braid main line, and tie on 4-8lb fluorocarbon leader whenever I'll need it.

What are your guys' thoughts/opinions? Any other recommendations for a similar price range?

Thanks!

If your main line is braid no reason to have a reel near that heavy.  Move down to a 1500 or 2000.  It will be a lot more balanced and sensitive.  You may even want to check out a shallow spool option like a 2004.
