Nunz Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 I am looking for a reel for my L power powell spinning rod. it is a 7'1 rod. I was thinking about a 1000 size stradic, but do not want to spend the money. Now i'm debating on putting my lews tournament speed spin on it. it is a 300 size, but looks smaller than most other brands 300/3000 sizes. it weighs 8.3 oz. would that be too heavy? (i cannot try the reel out because the rod arrived with a broken reel seat and i will be returning it for a new one). any other recomendatios for a good reel for this setup? Quote

BrackishBassin Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Don’t have that specific rod you’re trying to match, but I use a Fierce 2 in the 2000 size on my 7’ ML spinning rod and it matches up well. Going with a 300/3000 size seems a little large, especially for a L rod. Just a waste of spool space for freshwater. Quote
The Bassman Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Daiwa's Tatula 2000 looks awful good and it's under 6 oz. I'm a Shimano guy but all of their 2000 choices are JDM. Quote
TylerT123 Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 A Pflueger President or Trion? Maybe a Shimano Sienna? Not sure what exactly you’re looking for but I have a Mitchell 300. I love it, great for largemouth. The smallest Mitchell 300 is 6.8 oz. The largest is 9.9 oz. Quote
