Super User ChrisD46 Posted December 31, 2017 Super User Posted December 31, 2017 As the title states , I need help finding a good : 2 piece ML F / XF 6'10" ~ 7'3" Spinning Rod for Ned Rig under $100 ... I need as a travel rod for keeping in my car trunk - thanks in advance ! Quote
HookRz Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 In my trunk I have a 7' St. Croix mlxf two pice Avid X and a Fenwick River Runner 6'9" light-fast, the latter for creek Smallmouth. But I'm sure there are hundreds of rods that will work. Quote
tander Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Most any med. light/med rod will work. Ned fishing is not a feeling game so the rod don't have to be that sensitive. The St. Croix mention above will be as good as any. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted December 31, 2017 Super User Posted December 31, 2017 As others have said, most any "close enough" rod will do for the ned. I would go out and get your hands on as many as you can and pick one based on comfort/ergonomics. 1 Quote

Super User ChrisD46 Posted January 1, 2018 Author Super User Posted January 1, 2018 Thanks for the replies ... Based on what was shared , TW has a few that would fit the bill and Cabela's has a St. Croix Triumph series that would work . Quote
Fishinthefish Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 I'm from the ATL area myself now, moved here about a year and a half ago. For travel rods in this area I actually sold the rod I had previously and got a Triumph. Mainly because my old right was a bit less of a back bone, and theres plenty of situations around here where you can end up throwing into some slop without realizing it from the bank. I think the Triumph will be your best bet. Quote
standman Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Cabelas has the Tourney Trail/Pflueger President combo on sale for $49.88.... However, the 2 7 footers they have are either 2 piece Medium or 1 piece Medium Light. The latter would be nice to throw in the trunk if it weren’t for it being 1 piece. Quote

So far , the best 2 piece , ML , Fast spinning rods I could find are a TW (banned) 6'10 ML , Fast , Fenwick HMG series 7' ML , Fast and the above mentioned St. Croix Triumph 2 piece ... In 1 piece ned rig spinning rods there are more options - I like the Lew's 6'7" ML spinning rod specific for a Ned Rig but as previous posters stated , just about any 6'6" to 7'6" ML / M , Fast / Extra Fast spinning rod would work ... Looks like I'll be heading to the local Cabela's to check out the two piece St. Croix Triumph spinning rod ! Quote
