Seriously, stop.  Get some chuck, trim it, and cube it.  Make your regular "chili."  You can send the check later. ;)

After getting a nice mid winter thaw a few weeks ago we're back to winter. We've received about 8" in the last week with 3-5" forecaster for us today and another couple Saturday night. It's about an inch/hr as we speak.

The poor saps in SW Michigan are looking at a foot or more by the end of the day. @slonezp looks like he's getting hammered too. Then we have @A-Jay who appears to have lucked out on this one and is probably laughing as we speak.

At least the Elite season has started, so that makes the next couple months that much more agonizing and S-L-O-O-O-W!

Nothing for me from this one.

Still have plenty on the ground from the last few.

Either way, I'd be OK if it warmed just a little - say anything above zero at night and perhaps some double digit day time temps  . . .

Watching & listening to the B.A.S.S. Boyz is a nice way to pass the time.

One of the guys I have competed against since 2004 qualified for the elites this year. My son texted me yesterday morning, he was in 3rd place. Finished the day in 12th and, I just checked, is currently in 83rd with zero in the boat today. Apparently what was working, stopped working. If you don't mind, send a few fishing prayers his way.  https://www.bassmaster.com/news/opens-profile-groh-s-bass-obsession

He didn't make the cut. Came in 55th so he beat half the field.

Back to topic. Another 5" overnight so about 17" total in the last 7 days.

Yup we got another 3" or so and it's still snowing. Forcast shows my area should get a break for a few days.

I'd say he did pretty good for his Elite debut.

Here they are talking about 50's by Thursday. Not sure if its gonna come true but since the weather man said so, it probably won't.

Final total was 11.5" since Friday. There is around 16-18" on the ground. I work outside and walk along the road right of way, you know where all the snow plows throw their snow from the roads. These next few days are going to be exhausting, oh well I need the exercise! It was 0* this morning, 40 and rain towards the end of the week.

I think I'm starting to lose my mind! I mentioned in another thread that I even went ice fishing yesterday. It's been a rough winter, I'm ready for spring.

Everything melted Sunday, after getting 4-6" on Saturday.  A gutter fell victim to ice damming.  Looks like we hit our average 80" for the season.  Now we're in the bonus round.

Hang in there ~

It'll seem like forever but we're just about done with the back stretch now.

The final turn is almost in sight . . .

Thanks. I'm not sure if I've totally lost it, or I was in the beginning stages of hypothermia but I believe I actually enjoyed ice fishing a little bit yesterday.

My son has been asking for a while, so we finally had a chance to get out. My mom and step dad had a small pond dug a few years back and planted pirch, gills, sunfish, and a couple walleye. It's so small that he was getting them one after another so I didn't get to fish much because I was unhooking them for him, which I was glad to do. He had fun, and we got to check on the growth of the pan fish which are doing really well.

Sounds like some added insulation in the attic or a roof rake is in store for you.

Great thing is by the end of this week February will be more than half over. Then comes the rain and ice in March. By April we usually get a stretch of 60 degree days. That's when the fun starts.

You're post just reminded me of the bitter sweet thaw. I'm happy when it arrives because spring is here and work is going to pick up. But on the flip side the frost leaves the ground which makes my road and especially driveway one giant muddy mess.

Due to the outrageous price of land around here we aren't selling and building this spring. Instead we're remodeling and building a garage/home for the boat that I'll be purchasing sometime in the spring. Another thing on my list is redoing the driveway so it's not so messy and miserable when we get the thaw. Of course that won't do me any good this year, but I'll still welcome spring.

It's going to be someone else's problem by fall. Selling it.

That's option 3. I guess I left that one out....

Around here we get ruts in the road where the ice is uncovered to reveal potholes. :o We technically only have two seasons here in Pa. Winter and road construction and I don't know which is worse.

Same up here, and this year, the potholes are really bad.

Yup that's how things are here too. There are pot holes that could probably swallow a smart car and no one would ever know. There are pot holes around that have their own names. They blow out tires, bend and crack rims, and will absolutely destroy a front end.

Well, I can guarantee you that New Brunswick is not pothole free.
