My big pup got cold paw the other night when we went for his ? walk. Like yours he was bread for the cold so it has to be really cold for him to get it. The 3 lititle dogs always get it when we let them out if it's colder than 15 or so.

On a side note a while back I was reading about the history of my big pup's breed (Great Pyrenees) and come to find out besides guarding livestock they were also used to pull sleds. When he sees a critter on our walks it takes all I have sometimes to keep him at bay. He's not going to win any speed races, but I thought about buying a harness and seeing if he'd enjoy pulling my son around on his sled.

Yup - I think I remember at least one friend of my wife's who has an 'all GP' Team - pretty cool.

PM me if you want the info on the harnesses/line gear we use - might be able to get you a deal on the 'the rig'

You guys down south have got it made!

Up here in central Ontario this morning was -35c ( -30f for southerners).

And that’s not adding in the wind chill! It was so cold this morning, I could see the breath coming off the small birds at our feeder outside ?

What part of Ontario are you in? I spend a lot of time every summer in central Ontario fishing.

Yes we do! It gets in the 50s here and I'm turning the home heater on and winterizing the boat! ?

Parry Sound, I fish all over from the kawarthas up to Elliot Lake but mostly around home. I also spend quite a bit of time working and fishing on the Muskokas as well. Some pretty good bass around here and most lakes have almost no pressure to them.

that's what i love as well most anglers up here are targeting pike or walleye and the amount of small lakes with decent fish is a big plus

@clayton86 you waterfowl guys are a different breed. I would be waiting for it to let up before I went out chasing a muley! Looks like you had some good success though!

Seasons only 2 week long gotta get out even in three nasty stuff before it freezes over completely. Temps are in the single digits and low teens for the next 10 days.

You're further west than I go. I'm in the middle of no-where, 2 hours north of Kingston.

13 degrees in eastern PA with predicted low of 5. My sister in Orlando called last week to tell me its 75 and sunny. I really should stop taking her calls. Most of the lakes here are frozen and so are most of the people. Its not even January or February and its already too dang cold. Its gonna be a long winter.

We are having a fairly typical NE Colorado winter.  Dec 20 it was 70° - Dec 21 (the official first day of winter) it was 30° - Dec 22 it was 22° - and today is the first day since then that it's been above freezing, just 33°.  Tomorrow will be in the mid 40's, then Sunday's high is forecast at 11°.

We have about 3" of snow on the ground - hard to tell when it moves around so much out here on the prairie.  One day the wind is from the north and the snow moves south, then the wind is from the west and the snow migrates to southern Nebraska or Kansas, then it's from the southeast and the snow that blew away yesterday comes back today.

For centuries Russians forced people to live (or die) in Siberia. Why anyone would willing choose

to live in Erie, PA, Buffalo, NY or anywhere up there is a mystery to me. I enjoy visiting and vacationing

in the summer (Door County, WI), but I cannot imagine spending the winter there.

The only time I lived farther south than where I am now I grew to hate it in less than a year, and most would have considered living on the beach in the Bahamas to be living a dream.  But summers were difficult with the humidity.  I simply don't deal well with humidity after living for 53 years along the Rockies from Montana to Colorado - daytime humidity is fairly high here when it hits 50%.  Summer has always been my favorite season, and when we lived on the island, I dreaded it.

I'll take a few months of potentially cold weather over that any time.  Tennessee isn't exactly tropical, for that matter.  Besides, I actually like the weather and seasons, even though fall and spring can be somewhat indistinct here.  When it snows too much, I hibernate.  The rest of the time it's just a matter of how many layers do I put on?  We can range from around 0° all the way to high 60's during winter.  It keeps things interesting.

It's always easier to stay warm than it is to stay cool. The cold temps. In Michigan this week were bad but there were times where I broke a sweat while I was outside working.

I grew up in door county. The lake effect snow is worst then the cold. Living two hours due west. The cold is the killer.
