Well we made it through. We didn't get the inch plus of ice. It was mostly sleet thank god! School has been cancelled tomorrow so the roads must be a little slick. There are some power outages and most should be back on by the end of the day tomorrow.

@A-Jay how did you fare?

Hammered all weekend and this insanity is expected to continue through at least Monday night anyway.

High winds, intermittent power loss with on the ground snow & ice accumulations are approaching record highs (especially for April).  Some very nice 'drifts' too.

I have made ZERO snow removal efforts so far as it's just been way too miserable (wind chill) to even think about it.

I was hoping to attack it tomorrow but this latest forecast will most likely have me waiting until at least Tuesday.

On a seriously better note - I ordered a new drop shot rod & reel today.

Dog Sled team should be delivering it any day now . . . .

(Last year I had already scored two 5 lb plus smallies by now - but I'm not bitter . . . )

Well, my yard has 17" of new snow from the weekend - so far. Flurries are still falling.

I'm mostly dug out thanks to neighbors with snowblowers and a couple kids in the neighborhood I paid to clear some more. Truck is out and I ran a couple errands.

Is it totally over? Nope - more snow predicted for Wednesday.

Maybe the reason the winter won't get the hell out of here is this thread. @J Francho maybe you need to lock it down so we can welcome spring with open arms. ? j/k we're all scraping the bottom of the barrel here trying to get spring to finally show up.

I won't complain too much, after all I could put my boat in the water. Some of you guys could tow your boat across the water with all the ice you still have. ?

Looks like you were only feet away from getting a total white wash compliments of the Otsego county road commission.

Yea - I was ready for him - he had already passed the other way.

There's no way out for him on the other end and his return is mostly predictable.

It's been the same dude for a few years now.  He did wipe out my mail box last storm.

So that was nice.

I bet those tracks are nice on the snow blower. I could've used tracks this morning on mine, the self propelled didn't work too good in the ice, sleet, snow mixture we have. Those tracks would be been the ticket.

That ARE the ticket and a Must for The Snow Belt.

I'm turning over a new leaf and looking at the bright side. Or have I lost it?

Knock on wood, winter in Chicago is over. Got out to do a little bass fishing today. Water is 48* The annual pelican "gorging on fish sessions" are still going on. Saw nesting geese and actually one set of hatchlings. Grass is still brown and trees are still bare.

I'm not declaring victory just yet over old man winter, but today might break 70 and won't dip below 55 for the next week.

I did rig up my spinning combo I picked up over the winter. I'm going to give finesse fishing more of a try this year. I have a couple FC combos to respond yet also. Depending on the weather and work I might launch the boat Friday.
