I know - didn't see that one coming.

We were at like 15 last time I took the dogs out @10 pm.

it's just stupid at this point.

Another 1-2" of heavy wet snow by morning. Your choice of words for the April weather is a lot cleaner than the words I used yesterday morning when I walked into the kitchen at 6 am and saw a bunch of snow on the ground.

On the bright side buddy we've never been closer to warm weather than we are now. ?

We didn't get a foot of snow, but January 95th brought us a few inches of lake effect fluff.  It was weird driving south, away from the lake shore, to work, sun in my eyes, and near white out from wind and fluffy flakes.  It was 24° when I got up, so not too bad.

I wonder if the plow drive was singing this while going down your road?

I lost mine 2 years ago. I get nervous every time we get over 8" and it's drifting because I know the drift buster is going to get put on and mailboxes are going to die!

That gives me an idea for next winter....I'll start a thread so us northern guys can post pictures of the creative ways people protect their mailboxes from snow plows. The southern boys and girls will get a kick out of that.

Could be worse. About 7 yrs ago a snow plow took out the fire hydrant that sits about 30 feet from my front door. Water was shooting up a good 10 ft in the air. That night it froze and the sidewalk was a ice skating rink.

My brother in law drives a plow for the Town Highway dept.  Sometimes "contracts" are taken on certain people's mailboxes.  What I don't get is that they have to fix them if the take one out!

Around here if the snow does it the road commission won't replace it. If the plow or truck is the cause they'll replace it. Obviously 99.9% it's the snow.

-18c here this morning. It would look beautiful if this were Christmas Day, but right now I’m not in any kind of Christmas/winter spirit.

Yea - he didn't hit it - just BLASTED it with a 45 mph, 5 ton, 30 ft Wall of Snow.

I had replaced it this summer after a 'distracted drive ( a 17 yr old boy) ran it over.  He stopped which was nice.

I happen to be out back & heard the 'boom'.  I came out front and we had a nice chat.

I offered him the option of either giving me all the cash he had on him or he could get to meet 'Officer O'Mally'.

I got $68 bucks.

Paid for some of the replacement rig; which is now a mostly buried, and very mangled memory.

Can't do anything about it now - going have to wait for the Tundra to thaw before I can sink another one.

Snow is expected to overspread northern Michigan after midnight...and continue into Friday morning while transitioning to lake effect snow showers. Locally heavy snow squalls Friday afternoon/evening combined with northwest winds gusting over 30 mph are expected to result in some nasty driving conditions into Friday evening.

42/18 tomorrow, 43/27 Saturday, 42/32 Sunday. I know not nearly as bad as most of you guys, but our averages this time of year are supposed to be 62/40, I need that in my life right now.

I hear ya! I just woke up to another inch of snow. I work outside all day everyday so I need some warm weather in my life too! This is getting ridiculous.

I'm glad I'm not @A-Jay at this point in time. At the rate things are going up there he's going to celebrate the 4th of July clearing snow off his roof!

You are a man of great taste A-Jay. I sip the cheaper alternative from Buffalo Trace distillery, called Benchmark old no. 8

This cold season has made me go through a few bottles.

Going to make for a super short 'spring' - things happen fast up here as it is, but this could be interesting.

And couple of weeks ago the box stores all put their warm weather'displays' outside.  A routine occurrence.

Unfortunately,  the skids of fertilizer & mulch, outdoor furniture & lawn mowers are all under a foot of snow.

Pretty funny and sad at the same time.

You know you live in northern Michigan if you keep a winter coat, hat & gloves in the back of your rig

ALL SEASON LONG !

My Man ~ Of course I can . . . .

301 AM EDT Fri Apr 6 2018
...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT
TONIGHT...
* WHAT...Snow. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches,
with localized amounts up to 6 inches, are expected.

* WHERE...Portions of Northern Lower Michigan.

* WHEN...Until midnight EDT tonight.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions,
including during the morning commute. In addition, some
reductions to visibility are likely. Winds gusting as high as
35 mph will cause patchy blowing and drifting snow.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will
cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads
and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

Someone get A-Jay a blanket - he's still sleeping in the Lund.

Sounds like spring to me!

Is there's light at the end of the tunnel? The extended forecast shows 50's mid week and low 60's by next Friday. This isn't my first rodeo so no chickens are being counted at this point, considering it's still a week away. It could be 100 or we could be ice fishing by next Friday. Time will tell. ?

Who knows Right ?  It's crazy.

Things I'm not looking to going forward is first, the eventual spring rains - Going to make a Huge mess - everywhere.

Second, Lake Access.  Waters may open up but access roads (which are NOT plowed or maintained) if not at least gravel, will be mostly impassable; especially with a boat in tow.

All this will either have me staying very local or riding in style in the Old Town for the first week or so of open water.

 - or Both.

Experience has shown though - neither is actually a bad thing.
