Only way to know for sure is test some local ponds. Each one is going to be unique to some degree. In central MA there are places with 4-6 inches of fish-able ice, other lakes are still open. Closest to you I've been was in Tewksbury last Thursday visiting friends, and the pond near them was locked up and looked pretty solid. With the recent temperatures I imagine there are safe ponds in that area. Be safe and good luck!

A buddy of mine was out on Long Pond near the Souther end checking ice thickness today. He said it was 4 inches thick and will likely be out tomorrow fishing.

Yeah i don't wanna risk it anymore.. 2 years back me and my buddy kept drilling holes that read 5 inches. I started to set the first trap of the day and he was drilling other holes.. I looked up and he fell through and lost his auger. Pretty scary moment.

ill wait a little bit longer. This weather is really gonna help.
