snake95 Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 If you use nail weights for neko rigs, weighted soft jerkbaits, etc, which works for you? What is the advantage of using the custom-made tungsten variety over something out of the hardware store? Quote
detroit1 Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Use screws..they stay in better and you can buy 50 of them for 1.59..... 3 1 Quote

Big Swimbait Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Drywall screws. Cheap. Easy to insert. Flat head makes a tic when hitting rocks, gravel etc. 1 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted December 24, 2017 Global Moderator Posted December 24, 2017 As long as they fit and it's the weight you want it doesn't matter what they're made of. Cheap finishing nails work best for me. Mike 1 1 Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted December 24, 2017 Super User Posted December 24, 2017 The lunker city weights are really good. Don't like tungsten for neko rigs. Prefer the push in ribbed lead style. drywall screws work really well, too. 1 Quote

Super User Oregon Native Posted December 25, 2017 Super User Posted December 25, 2017 Lunker City's are just fine with me....don't use that many anyway Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted December 25, 2017 Super User Posted December 25, 2017 I like the VMC lead one's. No need to pay for Tungsten and regular nails aren't heavy enough for the proper action. 1 Quote

craww Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 A pack of the lunker citys goes a long way, and you can easily break a lead segment off to get the weight you want. Not as practical with a nail or screw. Also lead is heavier for its size than zinc, stainless, or whatever else. Tungsten is kindve a waste there due to cost. I did use to glue little true tungsten bullet weights inside some mann's hardnose plastics, smaller than lead and it helped tremendously in filamentous algae. 1 Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted December 26, 2017 Super User Posted December 26, 2017 Buy tungsten and feel your heart in your stomache when youve flung your entire pack into the lake! 2 2 Quote
