Bass tracker pro team 175txw with 25 hp??

Hello all, I am looking to finally purchase a bass boat. I have shopped around and feel that I have found what I am looking for in the pro team 175.

Question: Is it possible to push this boat well with a 25 hp motor?

I mainly fish a restricted lake and 25 hp is the max. I will be fishing other water, but my main lake is only 3 miles away.

Talking with 2 different dealers I received two totally different replies on how the boat would perform with this size engine. One said it was basically impossible and it would not reach plane, and another said they didn't feel it would be a problem and the boat would run approx 22 mph. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I've waited a long time to make this purchase and would hate to make a bad decision. I'm not worried about burning the lake from end to end, but want to make sure the boat can ride comfortably and preform well. Thanks

It is much better to match the motor size to the max HP rating of the boat.  Having said that, if you mainly fish a lake with a 25 HP limit, why hinder yourself from fishing that lake?

Will it work?  Of course.  Tracker sells a ton of boats with that setup.  I've seen quite a few on area lakes.  Not something I would buy, but I don't have any lakes with HP limits.

Most of my fishing is also on a hp restricted lake(25).  In March I purchased a Lowe stinger 160 w/25hp Mercury 4 stroke.  It will go about 22mph with one person and about 18mph with 2 people.  I thought this was pretty slow but when on the lake only a few boats seem to go faster.  I fish in a weekly bass tournament on the lake and several fishermen have a Tracker 175 and they perform similar to mine.  I think you would be fine with that setup.  After your warranty expires you could possibly do some mods to your motor to get more speed.

It says 20-22 so I'm guessing that's close. Just a matter of do you want to live with it at 20-22. Up to you. I assume that's on plane because I can't see you going 20-22 in a planing hull with it not on plane.

my father in law has a 175TX with a 25 merc 2 stroke and it will run low 20's with 2(bigger guys) in it. with a full live well it will still plane out( with dole finns), but down on speed (15mph). Boat runs very well for a 25hp.

It will be good on gas and get you to the fish.  Unless you want to tow water skiiers I wouldn't worry about it...especially if it would get you on your favorite lake.  Good luck and let us know how it does if you buy it.

I have a 2007 Tracker Pro Team 170 (next size smaller boat) with the 4 stroke 25. When I am by myself (90% of the time), with livewell empty, and 1/2 tank of gas it will do about 28MPH. Fill the gas tank, and livewell, I am down to about 22, add a second person, and it goes about 16. It is great on gas, and gets me where I need to go. I like it................on my boat, next size bigger boat might need the bigger motor.

My only concern would be when resale time comes i would not want a 17 1/2' boat

with a 25 on it,i think i'd look for a smaller(shorter boat) if i had to stay with

the 25,also look at the weight of boats to see which is lightest for a 25hp

motor.You will get more kick from a 2 stroke over a 4 i believe.In boats

has that stinger160,a welded aluminum boat with a console and deck

will probably be several hundred pounds lighter than that tracker also.

i have a tracker 165 with a 25hp. by myself the boat gets up and moves good. i get about 25mph on rough water and 28 on glass. with 3 people ill see 20mph. it just takes a while to plane.

I have a 16'6" crestliner that I had a 25HP on It would go 24 or so by myself with a 13" prop. If I had two more people, wife and son, I would switch to an 11" prop and would be able to go 20-21. If I kept the 13" on with that load I would be lucky to get 15mph.

If you order the boat. make sure it has a tachometer so you can make sure you're getting max RPMs out of it at the load you are carrying. Also, get a couple of different size props so you can change it depending on load.

I have since switched to a 40 on my crestliner and still switch props depending on load a 17" if I am by myself and a 15" if I have more people.

The 5 minutes it takes to switch the prop before hand make a big difference on how you will enjoy the rest of the day.

there was a post concerend about resale time. since you are by a hp limited lake resale will not be a problem, as long as people use boats on it and it hp limited to 25hp, that is what people will be looking for. Now in areas where there are no hp limits then yes resale might be problem. I know around here ther are several 20hp limit lakes 5 or 6 of them and boats with a 25-30hp (  with 20hp stickers) are going fast and sell for top $$ since alot of people want them.

I honestly don't know.........lol.........what ever it came with.
