I also noticed some hydraulic oil on the steering arm, or whatever it is that moves the motor.  the cap was loose.  I will be taking her to the shop in august when I go in for back surgery...

Good luck on the back surgery, having blown a couple discs myself it's not fun having back issues.

Got "the call" today, a month early.   Apparently they've had some folks back out of their orders.   Went down and got my paperwork and headed to DMV tomorrow morning (yay?!??).  Will pick it up Monday after work.  Should be on the water Tuesday night.

100% RIGHT!

That is awesome picture, I just about want to hang it on my garage wall, LOL!.

I have not regreted this boat and I still believe it was a great value.  I look at pricier boats and ooh and ahh, but the heritage is the boat that made me buy a boat.  I just polished mine up and man is it shiney.  It is so easy to trailer and it just plain works.

I think that is what I will say everytime someone asks me.

HaHa! Go for it! I'm going to. I just want to fish!

We went night fishing last night.  I'm not a fan of night fishing, but it was nice being on the boat at night.  Calm water, no breeze that was relaxing .  We were the last out at the launch, no other trailers around.

Perfect time to use top water baits!

My very first bassboat was a brand new 1983 Bass Tracker II. I had a motor for it (40hp Mercury) so i just bought the boat, trailer, and Minn Kota TM package. Price was $3000. I loved that boat! Kept it for 6 yrs, sold it to my brother, and he sold it to a friend of his later. It's still running strong !40HP pushed it around 32 gps.

Did my penance at DMV Saturday (3 hours for a 15 minute transaction, some things never change) and picked the boat up last night, in the rain.  Waiting to get in touch with the local graphics/sign shop to get the registration numbers made and the boat name.

Got a chance to pull off the cover tonight and start to load up all the stuff I bought at the Defender warehouse sale this spring.  Then I pulled out the Minn Kota Precision dual bank charger that I bought.  Dang, that is one big heavy brick!  Trying to figure out where the heck I'm going to mount that sucker.  Was hoping to put in a second gas tank in back, but there would be no "safe" room for the charger.  Don't want to take up space in the storage in front of the engine well if I can avoid it (besides that's hatch would have to be open while charging and I want to be able to leave the cover on).  So, is my only pratical option to mount it in the motor well and skip putting in the extra fuel tank?

Would love to see some pictures of other peoples solutions with battery chargers, especially one of these Minn Kota Precision monsters.  It's gonna have to be through bolted no matter where I put it, so that's the other challenge with everything foamed.

I mounted my 2 bank Minn Kota charger flat close to the transom.  It is heavy and I didn't want to mount it vertically with only self-tappers.  I figured the safest way to mount it would be flat on the bottom of the storage area.  I only use the one tank.  Range hasn't been a problem for me, I use the trolling motor more than the engine.  I should have put a hour meter on the trolling motor just to see what kind of time I have on it.

Mounted my minnkota on left side of batteries with large screws.took boat out for 36th time yesterday and I have never had an issue.I also come home, put cover on and plug my charger in also without issue.I just make sure it's aired out after refueling, then cover, then plug in charger. The charger works great.Did break 2nd pull cord for trolling motor yesterday, was going to order THmarine one with cable but it says not recommended for MK edge.Guess Ill try spectra this time.Do have small spot in turning radius of trolling motor where it shuts off,or if you're in that spot it wont turn on,can't figure it out.loose wire I guess.

So, I got it figured out.  Didn't realize that the back of the motor well butts up to the storage area, so I was able to through bolt it there on the port side and there is still enough room for another 6 gallon tank if I mount it towards the stern.  A couple of 1/4" bolts and a homemade "washer" of 1 1/2" flat aluminum to ensure the weight was well distributed on the bulkhead and we're good to go.  Mounted the plug holder on the starboard side towards the back so I can get at it with the cover on.  Need to zip tie the cables out of the way, but that minor.

I splashed her on Friday and got in some break-in hours.  By myself I got her up to 6100 RPM @ 33MPH a couple of times, but that might have been a bit over trimmed:embarassed2:.  I was impressed by how well the hull tracked considering it's basically flat.  I spent a little time experiencing a trolling motor for the first time.  That's going to take some practice, but I was impressed with the amount of thrust its capable of.  Even took my wife out yesterday and got her approval, she was impressed.  More comfortable that my Proline 190 that I gave up a few years ago.

I spent some time with the shop vac getting the manufacturing remnants (and even a broken drill bit!) out of the storage compartments.  Never comfortable having metal shavings and dust around motors and pumps, that's just not good.  I receive my VesselView Mobile module tomorrow, so another quick install.  I want to get a coat of wax on the motor and polish/wax the hull. Still need to get some of the factory/shipping marks off the hull.  Custom graphics should be later this week.

Now to get some time to actually go fishing! ? I'm so into having the boat, almost forgot why I bought it!!  That's not necessarily a bad thing if I'm enjoying it, right?!??

I'm planning a complete detail at the end of the season.  My hull needs some extra attention, it's pretty discolored.  I'm hoping a good cleaning and wax will help for next year.

I have had my Heritage out 4 times since I took delivery June 14th. Today when I went to remove seat post from the rear deck it would not turn. Took a pair of channel locks to post and it turn and turn and turn,....took small nail puller and pry it up to remove. It appears that the base is no longer straight where the threaded shaft goes in (front just drops right in and screws into place to mount sect on). Has anyone else had this issue? Is this something that maybe covered under warranty?  Also, has anyone mounted their TM foot control in one of the recessed boxes or just bolted/screwed to floor or have just left it loose? If recessed box mount, was it mounted off center to right/left?

Yep that would be a warranty issue.  I have have considered screwing down my foot control. If I do it will be center.

I mounted my pedal right of center, so if I decide to sit and troll around it’s more comfortable when I’m facing straight ahead

I'm usually fishing one side or the other.  The center will keep it even for me.

Mounted mine a little right of center, and I pretty much always fish from port side.Console is in the way when fishing from other side, especiallly when doing any skipping. Also being right handed just works better,I use left handed reels, cant figure out why right handed people reel with right hand.To me its like being RH but batting left or shooting left.Seems like your dominant hand should control the rod.Just a thought.Fishing is really tough here right now.

Amen to the tough fishing conditions.

Starting to notice a few minor things with my boat. The seats rubbed through the carpet in the back wall.I made some rubber pads to prevent further damage they actually look pretty good.  The carpet is not very traffic resistant  it already looks pretty matted down despite the couple vacumings I have already given the boat. The transom is wearing the carpet on the bunks as well, dunno what to do about that. The pump for the live well does not want to work all the time, it acts like it gets a air trapped in the line and will not move water. The back seam on my cover has come undone in a small area next to the out board, the ratchet straps for the cover are already slipping and I'm having issues sometimes tightening them. I know it sounds like a lot of complaining but all in all I live my boat and have no regrets.

probably a dumb question, are you pulling on cord coming out of ratchet stap while tightening.my cover is doing good, lettering is cracking already and does'nt bead water so good anymore but just ordered a gallon of starbrite waterproofer. It's like $25 a 22oz. bottle or $50 a gallon at bps,but found a gallon on walmart.com for $41.

Ya I do pull the same time as I ratchet seems one side the ratchet mech only catches half the time. I have reapplied waterproofed and UV protectant to the cover.

Oh I forgot about my fenders they really look like @$$ I have to drive gravel to get to a lot of my fishing spots and they are  pitted pretty bad.
