Manns Jelly worm was one of the original plastic worms. They looked like a night crawler with a paddle tail. We used them as kids in the 70's fishing farm ponds. they were a big deal back then.

They are still in production.

On a side note I still see some of those original trackers ,around the smaller KC metro lakes. Some of them look a little rough, but they are still floating.

Dang you aren't messing around! Can't wait to see the finished product!

I know man, I have been waiting for this boat.  Like i said earlier in the thread, I am not sure if couldn't wait to get the boat to fish out of or to modify :) .  I am making videos of every step, I will post one later tonight. Not my highest quality videos, but i am just to excited to set up the production like most of  my other content.  There is a lot more to come!

What are youre thoughts on sinking the footpedal.Only operated mine 5 minutes, and was thinking it might be a really good idea.thanks for all the good info and pics.

I think it is a good idea to... I sat in the chair and simulated using it... It is not bad on top, but sinking it would make for less objects to trip over...  The trays are rather expensive so I will have to play with if for a while.   I will have to take up the deck to see just where the space would be to do so... I will start with just screwing it down.  I would love to put some bolts from the bottom so I could use wing nuts on the top, in case i wanted to take it off.   What I want to do more than that is extend the deck as when you turn around, you have huge drop off!

are those screws easy to located?  if not can you give us a run down on location?

thanks man

They run along the top, you cannot really see them as the carpet covers, but you can feel them.  So run your finger over the area.  There are 5 on top... The same or more along the bottom.  I will take a picture of it later tonight or tomorrow morning when I get back started on it.  They are easy to find... Just a pain to get out.  A lot of them stared to strip before budging.  You will notice a lot of places on the boat, they did not just go straight down, but any angle the screw caught, they went with it.  A lot of them look a little messy.  THey are also self drilling, so they just drove them down hard!

That was a rhetorical question. Although I didn't realize they were still in production.

I remember the first pack I bought. It was at a hardware store 2 towns over. My dad was buying plumbing supplies and I saw them and thought they would work for carp. :D

OK, I mentioned earlier about the hardware to hold the spare tire I found is all galvanized steel.  So I bought two 6X1/2" stainless carriage bolts.  Sanded one side a little so the drill bit wouldn't slide around too much.  Drilled a 1/4" hold through the center at the end, and now I can lock it.  I know that's not the most secure lock around and it wouldn't take anything to cut it, but that's what I have for now.  If something better comes up I can easily change it.

Ok.  Completely removed the lowrance fish finder... I had to make a decision to cut the transducer line.  It was pined under the hydrolic line.  And I could not open the channel where the lines are run on the stern... I tried and tried, has to be something I messed.  The rest was easy. I will use the same lines the original fish finder used.

I am about to install the new fish finders.  I will have videos up later tonight or tomorrow.

I checked with Tracker factory service people and looked at the 170 in the showroom with brakes. It’s a standard 7pin connector that only uses 4 wires even with the brakes. The brakes are surge activated drums so there’s no backup lockout needed. I’m getting a plug from etrailer that has a 4/5 pin flat and a 7 pin round so I’m set no matter what I tow. It’s about $25.

They are not correct.  Most boat trailers have surge brakes.  Backing into soft sand, up a hill, etc., can engage the brakes.  I had a Nitro Z7 with surge brakes.  To prevent the above from activating the brakes there was a pin that went through the tongue and the hitch mechanism to prevent the surge mechanism from sliding.  My current boat, a Z8 has an electrical lockout when the truck is shifted into reverse.  It is on the same circuit as the backup lights.  It also has surge brakes.

Just catching up on this thread.  Someone may have already responded to this issue.

Well took my heritage home yesterday. Pretty excited.  A couple of notes of interest I hope helps others. I took the hub caps off. They told me they have a tendency to fly off down the road. Another issue Is the trailer lights having issues. He recommend before you sink the trailer silicone the crap out of them. As far as my modifications go the service manager at my BPS told me to my face. He doesn't care about adding things will not void anything as long as you aren't completely inept and screw it up. The fish finder is crap. I want to change it but use the current transducer. But since the hook 3 is a discontinued item the pins don't match up with the New ones I need to find out if Lawrance makes a connector from old to new. I hope this helps

Do not silicone any electric connections.  Use dielectric grease.  Apply liberally to the male and female connectors.  There should be some ooze out when you connect the plugs.  Dielectric grease is a non conductor, but it will prevent water intrusion and corrosion.  Coat all your lighting connectors, even those above water such as your running lights, and the connectors for your tow vehicle and trailer.

Keep a tube of it in your boat.  Apply it annually, or more often if needed, and apply it thoroughly when you need to replace any trailer lights.

I've used it when I plowed snow.  It prevented corrosion and made it easy to change bulbs when they burned out.  Plowing salty roads is as bad as submerging a trailer into salt water.

Silicone is not foolproof, and it can make it difficult to separate connectors.

I just spoke to Bass Tracker on some questions of concern about the new Heritage boat.  The answers I received are as follows:  All boats that are now on order will be built and shipped.  No specific date when the orders will be halted.  Any  boats on order with deposits now will receive the $400 gift card as well as the vip card regardless of the ship or received date.  Same applies to the Mercury motor....it will receive the three plus two year warranty.

I had it out for the second time yesterday :happy-cheerleader-130::happy-cheerleader-130:.  Step 2 engine break-in complete :occasion14:, and I'm definitely into Step 3.  It was a little windy, 10-18 mph, and it certainly was cold.  The boat handled great in the small waves and wind.  The max rpm achieved was 5600 and max speed 32 mph, even with the wind.  I used an app on my phone to measure the speed.  Something I did notice, steering seems a little squishy at max speed.  I don't know if that's the nature of the beast, but something to note.

For me the biggest part of the beak-in is complete.  Step 3 which reads, "For the next eight hours of operation, avoid continuous operation at full throttle for more than five minutes at a time." is how it will be mostly driven anyway.

I had the wife with me this time.  It helps to have some ballast on the other side of the boat (as little as that maybe:shiner:).  By-yourself it does list a little to the starboard.   I know it's only March but I need some warmer weather to get out there and finally fish :fishing2:  :Captain:.

One other note, when you launch and recover everyone will notice this boat and want to check it out :drool1:.

My 10 year old son, Matthew, and I ordered our 40th Anniversary Bass Tracker Heritage yesterday (1/14) at the close of the 2018 Bass & Saltwater Expo in Raleigh NC from a Bass Pro Shop dealer.  I was not only their last customer of the day; I was their last customer of the 2018 Expo!  This will be my very first boat and our families first boat.   My son would rather fish than anything and after years researching the BPS Bass Tracker I was thrilled to see this beautiful anniversary edition boat at the Expo today.  He even said he'd be willing to sell his XBox 360 and all his games to help finance the boat. ?  Of course I told him that was a sweet offer, but definitely not necessary. But it definitely touched my heart. But then he confirmed it will definitely be a technology free summer. Which he rarely ever plays with technology anymore anyway. He'd rather be outside with me or fishing! ?

Needless to say, we are so excited!  In approximately 8 weeks my son and I can officially leave the banks and docks of rivers & creeks and hit the open water in our new boat.   Love the colors.... love the size....love the price....love the smile on my son's face....love the limited edition aspect of this anniversary model (as of now only 2500 will be manufactured)....bottom of the line we absolutely LOVE THIS BOAT!!!!  ??

40th Anniversary Edition 2018 Bass Tracker Heritage

Don, the anticipation and excitement of your son is more than worth the price of the boat. Have a great summer.
