jaimeastin Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Well I have had a bad couple outings... Yesterday the worst.  I launch and was speeding on down the lake... Then it choked and cut out. I primed as it ball was not hard at all. I started it back up. Of course it died again. We did the cat and mouse with me now blown on a sandbar.   The primer bass was just catching air. I had plenty of gas, but I filled it up with my reserve can anyhow. I took the hose apart, check everything as best I could Everything seemed legit.  Finally I just laid down to think about siphoning gas and such. I noticed the "Fuel Demand Valve" http://www.attwoodmarine.com/store/product/portable-fuel/fuel-demand-valve   I had it on top of the can so it would have plenty of line and not disconnect from some bump/jolt. I put it back on the side of the can where it was on the floor and against the wall. I pumped the ball and it started getting firm...  The boat cranked up and it ran great.... Then it died again... I jumped back their and pumped the ball, it was semi firm, but quickly got normal. It didn't break down again. This was the second day this happening. The first day, it did it but I t remedied and we fished. Yesterday... I was out there for an hour before I got to fish...  I also noticed some hydraulic oil on the steering arm, or whatever it is that moves the motor. the cap was loose. I will be taking her to the shop in august when I go in for back surgery...   Finally... When I got home after catching nothing but the blues from hell, I broke my trailer tail light when backing up the driveway. I had a box on the corner of the house with a grill lid on it that I was supposed to take to the dump... When it was all my fault. I mean, man... everything was against me this weekend.   Any tips on the gas line thing?  Quote
SeriousBlack Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 I have no idea but how was your gas vent? Quote
Jrt Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Exactly what happened to me. Took it to service center, they told me it was that the connection at the tank wasn’t connected all the way. Not sure about that but it did work after that. I replaced the tank with a mercury tank that has a solid connection not the quick connect. Also that original tank would expand like crazy, and heard some bad reviews about it. I think the design of that tank builds to much pressure with the ventless cap and puts to much pressure on the fittings. Quote

Jrt Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 I open vent when running motor but new ventless caps will only vent when pressure gets way high not like the old vented caps. I’m pretty sure the cap on the tank that came with the boat was faulty and didn’t vent at all. And I think that’s why the fitting on the tank was not connected tight. From all the pressure on it. I mounted a transducer block using the holes they drilled in for the originaly fishfinder.   This way, you can patch up their work and place your transducer anywhere you like, within range of course.  The transducer block is only $20 and will allow you to make adjustments without concern.  The transducer should be just below the boat, just barely...  You what it more even than not.  Too low, and you will have a roostertail, too high and you will not get good readings.  I can still get readings up to about 10 mph, or a little more.  I cannot get reading going over 20.  I am still playing around with it.   There are many videos on youtube, few are great though, lol.  The garmin instructions have a diagram.  I moved mine as clost to the motor, on the right side.  I made sure it had clearance since it is a long side imaging one. My steering wheel cap and rod bushings came in last week. BP shipped them straight to my house at no cost. I mounted the cap with a dab of silicon. Appears to be holding a lot better.. Also, does anyone else's engine cowling latch feel loose. Mine does not fit snug. Quote
