Eddie Scott Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Last week I had planned to go check out this boat at our local marina. On Friday 3/16 i saw on the heritage page they were done taking orders. Totally bummed. Saturday I went to check it out anyway. The guy made a call to the owner ans he said to sell me the one in the show room! Boom! Picking that bad boy up on the 24th! If I went in 10 minutes later someone else eas on the phone ready to buy it. 2 Quote

jaimeastin Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 What's new on my boat. I installed ratcheting straps on my trailer. In one of my videos I made a comment that the ones that come with the boat are enough to get you home. That's true. Mine kept popping open. The ratchet straps made for quick launch and hookup over weekend when went fishing. The straps and mount bracket was about $60 OtD... You can get less on amazon, I bought locally. Like many have mentioned, I am now in the same boat... I lost a moon hubcap. I just took the other off and will put baring covers on. The moon hubs are chrome on the outside, but tarnish and rush on the inside... We are getting rain in NorCal, but I have the boat out of the garage. The cover is one, but I have a tarp over the engine to prevent water from getting into the boat. I don't mind the water, but my driveway is at a slop and my boat is currently not raised up enough for the water to go out of the drain hole... I do not want the bow to fill up with water. I also have a "No Damp" canister under the cover to aid in the removal of trapped moisture. Just an update. How is everyone else doing? 1 Quote

Took mine out for 5th trip a couple days ago.Launched boat and was sitting warming it up and noticed my hubcap floating upside down on edge of boat ramp, was able to jump out and grab it though.First problem with a hubcap.Never had a problem with straps, but I've got them so tight you can hardly snap them over. Finally figured out to pull on strap to pop them loose, after some hurt cold fingers.Everything has been great with boat,it's perfect for dad ,son, and me,can't say enough how much I love it.Hardest thing for me is remembering to pull up trolling motor when I take off.Took until 3 o'clock to catch only fish last time,so my streak of not getting skunked continues. Also seems my gas consumption is getting better.Have my boat outside, cover on and tarp over the whole thing, because it seems to rain every d**n day here. 1 Quote

Thats the closest to me. They have been great and have called me 3-4 times with updates on the boat. They've also handled almost everything with my credit union. Its been a ridiculously easy process thanks to them. Quote
Bolar Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 When I took my hub caps off to grease the bearings, I noticed some very light surface rust on the inside of the cap. Apparently they are only chromed on the outside. I've got them on pretty good so I'm going to keep them on the wheels for now. My transom straps have been working OK to this point, but I can see myself replacing them in the future. My biggest obstacle so far has been the weather. I can deal with the temps in the 50's but any lower the wind just cuts right through you and makes being out uncomfortable. Maybe next week. 1 Quote
jaimeastin Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 My straps would be tight, but just cumbersome. Get them tight then fold the cam over. Got tired of my hands getting hurt/cut. The ratcheing straps are just one thing to make it easier, especially for my wife. @ratman, good job out there not getting skunked! Glad to hear the gas consumption is getting better and better. @bolar, I hear both of you in the weather. We had great weather upuntil I got the boat. I mean we had 70 degree weather in Jan/Feb. Get h boat and I have been so busy plus rain. I can't take it out this weekend either... If the weather was better, I would have taken a day off to fish. 1 Quote
Mindspread Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 So when you guys are covering and tarping are you also attempting to cover the opening at the transom or just covering the motor. When I receive mine it will live outside, curious if anyone has come up with a solution for this.Going to get a motor cover as well but this only protects the top of the engine leaving the lower exposed. One of the first things I was thinking of upgrading was the tie downs. BPS has a relatively inexpensive set, unsure though of the quality and longevity of the product. Quote

I submitted my Minn Kota Edge for the Minn Kota rebate and was able to get a rebate of $25. I know it is not a lot but is something but between this one and the onboard charger rebate it paid for the 2 bank onboard charger.. Just went to their site and registered the Minn Kota SN and a copy of the boat order I had from BPS. Did your boat order list your Minn Kota? My order doesn't list it. I'm wondering if they will accept that? Quote

I plan on taking the boat and cover down to the local canvas shop and have a motor cover added to the Dowco cover. This would then keep the water coming off the cover from draining into the boat. I don't think the stock tarp will like anything extra rubbing on it. In fact I think having the opening sewn in is a good idea if your worried about the gap. Quote

Got the electronics on the front of the boat all done and everything put back together, rod strap on the front deck and my lean seat is all in. Now on to the console. On the retractable straps. How well do they fit. I had heard the mounting area kind of makes the ratchet part not align nicely. My moon caps are comping off as well. 1 1 Quote
GPG Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 Looks good! I got the Bass Pro boat buckles and they fit - the ratchet handle just brushes the tail light, but there is enough play that I can twist it slightly to make it work What rod strap did you get? 1 Quote
