Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted December 15, 2017 Global Moderator Posted December 15, 2017 Anybody seen the new 40th anniversary boat? It's a great price at $9995, but the "chocolate Brown" carpet and seats aren't my cup of tea. I know it's a throw back boat, but whoa those colors are ugly. The hub caps are cool though. LOLĀ Ā For you guys who lived and remember the 70's do you look back and cringe at the browns, yellows, and pea greens used all over the place? Those were some hideous colors. ? Ā Ā 2 Quote
tander Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 I had a 1984 Bass Tracker. Back then, I think you had 3 different models, all of them were brown. I didn't think that the brown was so bad. I guess different strokes for different folks. 1 Quote
Tim Kelly Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Colour fashion is cyclical. If you look at car colours there are starting to be a few bronzes and other brownish tones available. After years of grey and silver there is at last a return to a bit of colour. I think it looks just fine. It is supposed to be a bit of a statement boat and it achieves it's purpose very well. I expect they will be very popular and you will see lots of them over the next few yearsĀ with the water lapping at the rear decks with a couple of big guys from Jersey flinging senkos around. Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted December 15, 2017 Author Global Moderator Posted December 15, 2017 I don't doubt they'll be popular. It's a pretty good deal for a boat like that, plus the cover, plus a $400 gift card to Bass Pro/Cabelas.Ā Ā I didn't see any specs on it, I'm guessing it's a 16'?Ā Quote

Especially with the pressedĀ bottom. Most of the trackers Iāve seen in person at Bass Pro had some really bad welds on them.Ā Ā Ā Just wish i didnāt fish HP restricted lakes. Wonder what it would cost with a 9.9.Ā 2 Quote

Wonder what it would cost with a 9.9.Ā It would be interesting to see if they come with other motor options or if it's an all or nothing package.Ā Ā So these HP restricted lakes (which I've never heard of until joining this site) you can't put a bigger motor in and just idle? What is the purpose of a HP restricted lake? We have "no wake" lakes here (very few) which everyone respects.Ā Quote
RenegadeBassin Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 I don't know @12poundbassĀ the more I look at the chocolate brown the more I like itĀ Ā It's different.Ā 1 Quote

Easy way to keep the price down.Ā Ā In some lakes around me, SE Va, you can still have a main big engine like a 40hp or whatever, with either the prop removed or the gas line removed. They cannot run. Most of these lakes are city water supply lakes too.Ā However, in some you canāt even have the bigger engine. So a 9.9 kicker would work. But a 9.9 pushing a boat that size isnāt easy. Plus the weight of the main engine.Ā Ā My guess for this is due to the layout/size of the lakes. A lot of them are not really wide open, but long and narrow. Maybe itās a skier thing too.Ā 1 Quote

Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted December 15, 2017 Author Global Moderator Posted December 15, 2017 froni was just looking at my Tracker book and I compared this boat to the Pro 160. Ā This boat is 6 inches longer 8 inches wider on the bottom 6 inches wider at the beam Retail for the Pro 160 is $11,995! Ā That's a heck of a deal actually!Ā Ā The only thing I'm scratching my head about is a cover for the 175 TXW is $475 so why is the one for the heritage $700? Because it's free? 1 Quote
Dirtyeggroll Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 I think the Heritage model would make an excellent budget starter boat. The $400 gift card is just enough to get a Garmin with Sonar, side imaging and GPS (w/out maps). Ā Finance it for as long as possible and then sell it to upgrade in a couple years because I bet it will hold its value and one could get most of their money back. Ā Hmm... 1 Quote
Al w. Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Just saw this boat earlier today.Ā I kind of like it.Ā It does look like a good price for a boat that is almost 17 ft. long.Ā It also hasĀ a 4 stroke motor.Ā When I first saw it, I thought it may not have a trolling motor or fishfinder.Ā But after checking, it has both of those.Ā Maybe it'll be a good boat for those that are in the market for it.Ā Nice retro look. Super User slonezp Posted December 16, 2017 Super User Posted December 16, 2017 Be nice if people had their choice of interior colors. 2 Quote

Way north bass guy Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 I had a 78 Starcraft for a workboat for a few years, it was a wonderful rig for what I needed it for, and man, ya gotta love the 70s oranges and puke brown and green colours! ? 1 Quote

If you finance that boat for 10 or 12 years your going to be upside down on it before it ever gets wet. Ā If you make a sizable down payment it helps of course , but they all depreciate . 1 Quote
volzfan59 Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 I checked on the new boat while at work today. The only option available is a trailer brake upgrade, $445.00. That's it.Ā 1 Quote

Super User Catt Posted December 17, 2017 Super User Posted December 17, 2017 I remember boat colors a little different ? Ā Down south we had a lot of Skeeters, Rangers, & Champions; everything was Gunmetal or Red on a white hull. Ā We were more concerned catching bass than making a fashion statement! 1 1 Quote

LOL Yeah well, like I said they all take a nose dive.. Some brands worse than others.. I would think the market for that boat would be pretty limited on the resale side. But if you fish small lakes 10k won't buy much these days. 3 Quote
