Ben Miller Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Why? None of my gear is rated above an oz. I was considering a Yellow Duckling because they are on sale at http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Savage_Gear_3D_Suicide_Duck/descpage-SG3DD.html Quote
Scarborough817 Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 i have thrown a 2 1/2oz baits on a rod rated for 1 1/2 oz it's possible to do but i really dont recommend it. also i would get the rat instead 1 Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted December 15, 2017 Super User Posted December 15, 2017 I'm sure bass will hit that thing but I bet the hookup ratio is pretty terrible. And if you do hook them it looks like they will have a ton of leverage! Just my .02 Get a plopper 130 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 15, 2017 Super User Posted December 15, 2017 The 4 1/2" is intended to be a bass lure. Tbe 6" a musky/pike lure. I use 2-3 oz top waters like Lunker Punkers and rats a lot with my swimbait rods. Big heavy lures require tackle that can easily cast them. Tom 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 15, 2017 Global Moderator Posted December 15, 2017 Large topwaters require specialized gear, usually swimbait rods and reels. I have a few topwaters in the 2+ ounce range, and once the 2 190 ploppers I ordered today get here, I'll have a couple more 1 Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted December 15, 2017 Super User Posted December 15, 2017 I bought one of the Ducks last year to use as a xmas tree ornament, a role it is reprising this year. I have thrown it a few times, but it seems pretty close to a WP 130 but maybe a little less loud/agressive. 1 Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 It's a swimbait so it requires a swimbait setup. You can probably get away with a punch rod or flipping stick though. 2 Quote
