Super User N Florida Mike Posted December 14, 2017 Super User Posted December 14, 2017 Jon boat or bass hunter at least 80 %. Mostly small lakes.Got a yak too but havent used it in over a year. Used to wade fish a lot. Almost never anymore so its bank fishing ponds the other 20%. Quote
LOTR88 Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 I live on a lake where we have a pontoon boat so most of my fishing is from the pontoon boat. I am looking to get a small John boat to use so I can access some of the other canals and lakes that branch off from my lake through small tunnels that my pontoon boat can't get through. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted December 14, 2017 Super User Posted December 14, 2017 Kayak. Occasional shore. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted December 15, 2017 Super User Posted December 15, 2017 A mix of bank and kayak, this last year was way way more bank, which is a trend I plan on reversing this coming season. I really prefer wading to either bank or boat however, if I lived closer to wadeable water it's all I would do. Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted December 15, 2017 Super User Posted December 15, 2017 I fish primarily in this order: 1) Kayak 2) Shore 3) Boat 4) Canoe I prefer the kayak but I fish from shore after work sometimes when loading/unloading a kayak would eat up too much fishing time. I fish from a boat with my Father-in law from time to time. I own a canoe and use it when my son wants to fish. I will be using this even less as I plan on getting him a kayak as well. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted December 15, 2017 Super User Posted December 15, 2017 I fish primarily from a kayak. I rent a boat at the Quabbin Reservoir a few times a year and another member is generous with the 2nd seat on his boat, but other than that, it’s a ‘yak. One of my kayaks is in/on my truck most of the season. Quote
RPreeb Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Shore so far, but soon to be canoe as much as possible - buying an Old Town Discovery 133. Small enough to wrestle on top of my F-150 by myself and paddle solo, but big enough so that I can take my wife along when she wants to go too. Anything that needs to be trailered is not an option for me because I need to be able to pull my 24' Jayco camper most of the time. Quote
Glbglb21 Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Bank fishing. Looking into getting a kayak just looking around for something that is verstile but wont break my bank probably have to build some outriggers for the one im looking at but idk still looking. Quote
thinkingredneck Posted December 16, 2017 Author Posted December 16, 2017 If you are looking at kayaks try some if you can. Most will work for fishing, though. Sit on top kayaks are roomier amd self bailing. Quote
dwh4784 Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Kayak 95% of the time, but have a couple spots I will hit from the bank with the wife. Quote
Chowderhead Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Pelican Bass Raider 10E about 95% of the time. Quote

Dtrombly Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Bank mostly. I have a Sun Dolphin Sportsman, but have to rely on my brother and his truck to take it out since I drive a sedan. Quote
BrianSnat Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 I have an old, 14 Ft Grumman with a 9.9 on the back. Though I wouldn't mind a higher HP motor, several of the better fishing waters where I live (NJ) have a 10 HP limit, so I'm kind of stuck with the 9.9. It does the job. If I'm alone, on flat water I can get it up on a plane and hiit 20 MPH. With a partner I max out at about 16 MPH, stilll plenty fast for my needs. I fish out of that boat about 80 percent of the tme. The rest of the fishing is out of my canoe (I tried kayaks but much prefer canoes for fishing) and wading in streams. Once in a while I will fish from the shore at my local lake, but I often take the canoe out there too when I'm in the mood to rooftop it down there. it has no ramp to launch my boat and doesn't even allow electric motors. 1 Quote
Yumeya Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Boat mostly, I do wade local rivers during winter and early spring and late fall. Quote
Crankin4Bass Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Kayak most of the time and occasionally from the shore. Quote
Hawkeye21 Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 When fishing on my own it's 90% kayak and 10% shore. If I'm going with someone else it's on their boat. Love fishing from my kayak. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted January 4, 2018 Super User Posted January 4, 2018 I fish from a boat about 99.99% of the time because I have that luxury. That doesn't mean I won't fish by any other means necessary, but I don't do it very often. Quote
