Good wading net?

So I know there's a recent post about regular landing nets. The reason I put it under this topic is because it will be for smallmouth 99% of the time. So that being said can anyone suggest a good wading net that can handle smallies up to 18/19"? I like the kind some trout nets are the rubber material,also tangle resistant would be nice. I bounces around the idea of making one out of a tennis racquet or squash the only problem is I'm jusy not sure on the size of net I would need. I also don't wanna break the bank I've seen some nets cost more then some higher end reels and rods. Lastly I guess if it can be attached to a clip that would be a bonus (I apologize about the rambling in this post).

That actually might be my best bet. Luckily I have a bps close by I can get hands on and really see it. I most of thr time use my fingers but no one wants a jacked up moving water small with a mouth full of trebles.

The smaller one will handle any smallie I am likely to catch and I figured if I ever started caught ones too big for it, I would be happy to shell out for a bigger net! I really liked it more for trout/catfish by-catch, smallies and panfish were never as much grief to unhook as those two species. 

 

They are super light and float, so they are great for wading.  I never really use mine anymore, I started crimping all my barbs down and can release most fish still in the water.  I still use it in winter as it keeps my hand dryer.

The second I saw it was fish pond I knew the price tag was gonna be steep. The main reason I want a net is for my girlfriend (hates touching the fish still working on that) and like I said when they have a mouth full of trebles I rather not have my hand there.

Yea, they price is a little nuts, but the light weight won me over.  I do wish the handle was a a bit longer so I could tuck it under my arm.

I know what you mean there, I think the issue lies in that they are mainly catering to trout guys. That's why I bounced around the idea of a tennis racket or squash racket. Lightweight strong and good length. Well the tennis racket would be a little long depending. I just gotta find a website that sells that exact style of netting. Do you know by any chance what kind it's called?

I fly fish for trout a lot, as well as fish out of a float tube for bass in smaller reservoirs where boats arent allowed. I have used fabric mesh, rubber (like the one posted above), and finally the one I carry on me when Im wading 99% of the time. Its pretty sturdy and lightweight, the net itself is deep so you can keep fish in the water while youre unhooking them, its long enough to net larger than average fish, and the rubber dipped material doesnt catch any hooks. Its long enough to reach out from the float tube to land a fish, but not so long that I cant carry it.

I added a small carabiner and a magnetic release to mine, so it sits behind my body while im wading.  When I need to land a fish, I just pull down on it, and it releases from the magnetic holder. I dont know what youre looking to spend, but this one is only 25$.

A magnetic release is almost mandatory on a wading net.
