Mine will be a hair jig as im out of skirting material and need to place an order but not sure when that will be. When are we planning on doing this by? And is the idea to make one pattern to send out to everyone or can we kind of mix and match patterns

Hair jigs are fine buddy, ill stick to spinners. That way we won't have to many repeats. You can make whatever patterns you like buddy, its whatever you like.

okay that's cool i dont think we have a firm date yet. yes the idea is to do however many per people we have i dont think the pattern matters too much you can mix and match if you like

Just thought of something. However many people would be one less lure. I.e. 9 people 8 lures. Dont think neone wants to mail one to themself. Lol?

Is like two jigs a person okay with everyone? I figured a black and blue and a gp craw accent. Those colors really work everywhere

If it's just 9 people I'll do a bladed jig and regular jig each. 

 

I'd prefer a spook or jerkbait. I have plenty of glides and haven't liked any of the painted glide blanks I've tried very much.

I was thinking the same think. Either 2 separate styles of hair or if i get skirt material before im ready to send them ill do 1 hair and one poisontail swim jig. Havent decided on color yet

sounds good to me i'm going to do jerkbaits i think, the top waters would end up costing me around 8/each to ship where jerkbaits are 3

How are you planning to package them? I'm trying to figure out the best way to send mine.

i was going to just do an envelope regular mail without hooks but for jigs i think if they are the same laid down in the envelope they should be fine the just have to be under 2cm thick

That's fair, I'm debating if I'm going to dress some treble hooks for the spinners or not, trying to figure out what's more practical shipping wise

Honestly eh if I do ship with hooks ill put some electrical tape around them to keep from poking through

Since I started this I guess I should chime in. I have done these in the past and here is what has worked the best.

 

1. Set an approximate value for the lures of say $10. So if I am sending out jigs I will need to send 2 for each person but someone painting cranks should send 1. This does not mean I think a custom crank or jig is worth more or less it is just an approximate.

 

2. Someone needs to be in charge of the exchange (Not me or you may never get anything). What I mean by this is instead of 12 people sending 11 different packages out they all go to one person. That person then puts the baits for each person in a Flat Rate box and mails them out. Everyone should send like $7 for the cost of return shipping or whatever the going rate is? This is cheaper and more logical than the shipping free for all.

 

3. The lures you send should be something that works for you. This exercise is for other lure makers to see your work and try out something new that works for another angler. I am not sure what jigs I plan on sending yet but they will not be something you can buy on TW. An example of this is some of those bladed swimjigs Bluebasser keeps posting that are a color I would have never though of trying.

This!! This is what we needed to get clarified! I agree with this 100% I'm going to pass up on taking charge because shipping in Canada is horrible.
