Elkins45 Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 I think I’m going to take a week in the spring to fish Alabama or Florida. If you were picking a week in advance, when would you schedule your time off? I know you can’t predict the weather, but when is the bass fishing usually taking off? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 9, 2017 Super User Posted December 9, 2017 Either side of May 1 in the Mid South. Probably late January through the middle of February further south. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 9, 2017 Global Moderator Posted December 9, 2017 I'd go late January through late March for those two states. Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted December 12, 2017 Super User Posted December 12, 2017 Week of the full moon in March in N. Florida. Quote
Hot Rod Johnson Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 Lake Guntersville February 26th. Thru March 3rd, 2018... My choice would be February 26th 2018 thru March 3rd 2018... This time period is the "First" or "Second" Major Largemouth Bass Spawning Period. It maybe the "First" because it has been a "Mild Winter"... The "Grass" will be about 12" to 18" off the bottom and starting to turn "Green".. Both "Browns Creek" and "Siebold Creek" will produce Largemouth Bass all the time. Just flip flop between these two areas... They have every thing for what ever type of fishing that you would like to do... Fish the 6 feet to 10 feet range in and around the "Vegetation"... Quote
Elkins45 Posted December 30, 2017 Author Posted December 30, 2017 Thanks for all the replies. I’ve reserved a campsite on Lake Seminole for the first week of March. This will be my first Florida fishing trip. Quote
riverbasser Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Good luck there's some big'uns swimming around Seminole. Especially during the spawn, I hope to be out there too Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted January 2, 2018 Super User Posted January 2, 2018 Hope you do well. Seminole is a little out of my range. Haven't fished it but heard some good things about it. Hopefully it won't be too cold that week to hinder them from bedding , or feeding. If you can just get 3 good days in a row of warmer weather that week they should get fired up. Quote
Hillbilly Bennett Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 I’m hitting Shearon Harris in NC at the end of February myself. Sure hope we get a few warm days in a row and the big girls come up to start fattening up for the spawn! Good luck on your fishing trips everyone! Quote
