I’ve been making jigs and was wondering if there are more/better options for skirts....like what is everyone’s stock?

right now I just have the jig skirt kit no rubber skirts etc...

I buy my silicon tabs from "Fishing Skirts" and I buy round rubber by the pound from "Janns Netcraft". I wire tie my skirts with either copper wire or that green 26 gauge "gardening wire". The gardening wire will eventually start to rust but it is easier to tie with. If it rusts and the jig is still good I just strip it and tie a new skirt.

Of late I will use the silicon tabs for the colors I want but I will alway tie in a little round rubber for the action it gives the skirt.

Barrows Tackle also has a good supply of jig making materials.

I buy all my skirt material from fishing skirts and wire tie them myself. I'm not sure what you mean by "what's in everyone's stock?"

Fishing Skirts is good...I like tying with kevlar thread.  No rust and very

 tough to break.

If stock you mean on hand then I have at least 20 colors of silicone from fishing skirts and brown, red, black, blue, chartreuse, white and orange living rubber that I buy by the pound from living rubber.com.

I have about 100 different colors of silicone tabs from fishingskirts.com, Barlows, Janns Net craft, Lurepartsonline.com, etc. Additionally I have flat and round rubber, hydro silk, and lumaflex skirts or skirt material.  What to use depends upon what you are looking to achieve.  Each of these has advantagesand disadvantages depending on what you are looking for.

Must haves will be a short list, these are what I normally call "base" colors. Green pumpkin, watermelon, black, brown, and pumpkin. These are the colors that you can use alone and have a good color that will catch fish, the next set are the colors used with a base color alone or in conjunction with other colors to create a color pattern.

These are what I call must have accent colors and remember, this is just my opinion. Blue, orange, yellow chartreuse, green chartreuse, red, and purple. After these basic colors is when I use things like natures edge, barbed wire, and living image colors but there are so many and forage species vary from place to place not to mention most bodies of water have local "hot" colors that seem to work better in certain places than other colors, so that is the list of colors I think are must haves but again, this is my opinion and it may be different for you and that is what makes custom tackle so fun.
