gall Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 So with the sale on the curado k (8:5:1) I got I figured might as well get a rod to pair it up with. Now comes the problem I fish mainly moving waters a lot of times out of kayak or wade so a goos multi purpose rod would be nice. Any recommendations on a rod in the 150 range would you match up with? I'm thinking along the lines of 7ft mh f rod and use my other casting reel for strictly cranking duties with a cranking rod. Quote
CroakHunter Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Maybe an exage or curado? Haven't fished either but have read nice reviews on both. And it never hurts to match lol Quote

The odd thing was the handle of the curado felt so short for the length which was I think was 7ft. I might run back and get the exage ha. Of courseb all the thesd sales on when I'm supposed to be buying gifts. Luckily for me November raked in a ton of ot for me ha. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted December 8, 2017 Super User Posted December 8, 2017 I am very fond of my Tatula rods. I've read good things about the Cronos rods. Never touched an iRod, but some on here have mentioned the Genesis II are very good rods in that price range....as are the Sierras. I liked my Medium Helios well enough to buy a second one. Wouldn't mind adding a MH. Quote
CroakHunter Posted December 8, 2017 Posted December 8, 2017 Curado was probably a 6'10. Don't think they make a 7ft curado. Quote

The tatula I see cab be had for right around 110 how are the ratings on then they say a medium is 1/4-3/4. 8 hours ago, CroakHunter said: Curado was probably a 6'10. The curado it felt weird like it wouldn't balance well Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted December 8, 2017 Super User Posted December 8, 2017 If you can swing the extra dough, you'll notice a difference to step up to the Zodias over the Curado rods. 1 Quote

Whether or not a rod can handle its full rating range is something I would have to deliberately pursue in order to give a definitive answer. I'd say yes from what little I have read on that subject. I prefer not to fish either end if avoidable. I almost always carry at least one each of ML to MH. 1/4oz. would be fished on one of my rods rated down to 1/8 oz. If I know I will be fishing 3/4-7/8 oz., I will be carrying a rod rated to at least 1 oz. My Heavy rods don't see much action, so a chance to use them is always a plus....so even though a MH might be rated to 1 oz. I like taking a Heavy. Quote

Loomis E6X MBR843c and I really like it as an all purpose setup. Although some do not like the E6X rods, I like mine. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 My Curado K 8.5:1 is on a BPS 7'Carbonlite (4oz) MH fast tip spooled with InvizX 15lb (.013dia) and I used it all summer with plastics. What a pleasure to throw this light set up all day and never get tired. Pure fun. Quote
gall Posted December 9, 2017 Author Posted December 9, 2017 Yeah 1/4oz my spinning rod will. Handle no problems. Just curious more so then anything for a medium power rod found that interesting. How do you like your e6x? I also considered the carbonlite, I have a few of their old ones man I miss those ones the black ones. I also bounced around the idea of falcon rods. Quote
gall Posted December 11, 2017 Author Posted December 11, 2017 Well I guess I found my new rod ha. I have a fenwick elite tech smallmouth 6'9 mh/f on its way for a steal for a total of 75$with shipping. Its uses but from the pics and also the judgements of the company it looks in excellent condition. All said and done for 195$ I got a brand new curado k and the fenwick. Not a bad day if I sat myself. Quote
